1971 Peugeot?
6 Attachment(s)
I have an older model of Peugeot Road Bike. The problem is, is that I do not know the model or year. I've done some research and I'm led to believe that it's a UO-8 and that the year is somewhere from 1971 - '80. Help? (sorry about the mess in the back...)

Early 1970s UO-8, for sure. It is difficult to pinpoint the year, because Peugeot serial numbers are notoriously unreliable, but the first digit of the S/N is supposed to be the last digit of the year (but isn't always).
Mine is supposedly a 1970 (see serial number in signature). |
Like John said, it's definitely a UO-8 from the first half of the 1970s. You can probably pin down the bike's age more precisely by looking for date codes on components. The bike still seems to have its original Simplex rear derailleur, which may have a small date stamp on the inboard side of its metal cage between the pulleys.

Thanks guys, that helped out quite a bit! :)

There's also the gold "Tube Special" sticker on the frame. Does that have anything to do with it? From what I've read, that sicker should put the year prior to 1979 or so ? Any thoughts?

The type 3 downtube sticker points to it being a 74-76 model.

Check for date codes. '70-'74 but it doesn't make any difference as they're all the same.
