Would you ride a women's bike?

yeah, over here in euroland nobody gives a rats arse, especially when it come to city bikes. There is absolutely no point in riding a diamond road frame with drop bars when you can ride a nice sturdy city bike with upright bars and a large basket in front for groceries etc.
I ride a bike like this all the time when on cooking duty . Except the one that I use has a lockable headset and a bipod kickstand under the BB, which is a great set up for parking.

Would I ride a woman's bike? Only if she'd let me. I guess that depends on the woman.

I want to see this attempted on a regular basis in the wild.

Holy cow, man! I don't look like the first picture yet but you've scared me. From here on out, I'm changing my ways. No more riding on the 820 for me. I'm now on the hunt for a woman's bike so I can avert this unintended sex change disaster and start looking more like Marilyn.

its funny how things like that tend to change too. my other passion is watches and the wristwatch was initially intended only for women as another form of wrist candy. it was only after ww1 that men started to trade in their pocket watch for them. nowadays the wristwatch is kind of a phallic symbol.
Odds are The Golden Boy is probably form a much older generation where culturally defined/understandings on such topic is more antiquated. I for one never gravitated towards tools or trucks when i was younger. nor most my friends when i was a youth.
and most kids today tend to be into a lot of the same stuff regardless of gender. all my nieces and nephews are into spiderman/superheroes, star wars, nintendo games etc.

Stopped by a LBS today. While browsing some used bikes and an older gent started a conversation about his need for a woman's 3 speed type bike. Was recovering from a broken pelvis, caused by a bike accident. A top bar was too much for him. Hated the mountain bike knobby, fat tire beach cruisers just wanted a practical road going tire bike. Made perfect sense to me

nowadays the wristwatch is kind of a phallic symbol.
It does beg the question, is a hanging pocket watch a symbol of something near and dear to a phallic symbol?
(now that's a hanging participle!)
My riding mower is a step-through, so if you want to get into the old "whose is bigger?" situation, I remember a time when the riding mower was considered a "compensation piece."
Then again, I don't wear a watch.
As for a "woman's" bike, I swore I'd never get a sloped top tube bike, but I have two.
I like mixtes, a lot.
My first bike was a unisex.
One of my next bikes will be an XtraCycle.
So yes, I'd ride a woman's bike.
When my hips/back won't let me swing a leg over.
When "standover" vs. balance becomes threatening.
That will be the time.
And for those who would tease me about it, well, I'll be old and pride will have goneth.

- And whatever you do, DON'T WEAR A WRISTWATCH!
(I know this 'cause I read it somewhere in the interwebs, so it must be true. )

Oh, please. Any guy can pull of riding a step-through or mixte frame without their manhood being called into question. It's really not as much of a statement as some of the "I don't believe in gender roles" camp is making it out to be.
Want to REALLY prove you're secure in your manhood?
Ride this bike:
wearing this:
Gender roles be damned, right fellas?

A really nice looking Super Sport in my size recently popped on my local CL. Only...it's a women's frame. Not a mixte, just a plain ol' Schwinn women's model. I'm tempted to jump on it anyway. I plan to use it for commuting and running around town, so the step through would actually be a nice feature (one that I've secretly always envied). What do you think, abandon ego and enjoy the ride?

Still learning
There are a few WSD, Women Specific Design, bikes. I own a 2006 Trek Pilot 1.2 that carries that designation. It might have a tweak here and there for a woman, but it certainly looks and rides like any modern bike, and nothing overtly girly about it.

Would I? Sure. Low-step models are easy to use, easy to live with. Only risk is my imagined thought of what others might think of me. IMO, problems with that sort of thing went out in the '70's.

Well the seller never responded to my emails, so I guess it wasn't meant to be. All of this angst for nothing!

I saw a couple of mamachari bikes on the local market two years ago but didn't have the money to grab either of them. (They have room for huge baskets on the front and feature a bipod kickstand like the one on the bike you posted.) I haven't seen any since 2012- one of those was even pink - but maybe I should put money in my savings account in case I do see another one so I won't miss out this time around.

A pink Mercier would be a wonderful find. I do notice though, you are missing a pink ladies step through beach cruiser. When do you plan to add one of those to your collection?

@cobrabyte I wouldn't ride that cruiser simply because it looks ugly to me!

Understandable, but you would ride a cruiser? Just curious as step throughs and cruisers are similar, but I myself don't like women's cruisers...

2 touring cyclists from Sweden last November, had started in Anchorage AK, they were already down as far as the Pacific Coast, on their way to Florida.
they were touring on step thru commuter bikes with an 8 speed IGH.. damn sure they were easier to get On and Off than one with a Top bar up High.
my 2 favorite bikes now have Low top bars , a BikeFriday And a Brompton,
but as steel is gender neutral they don't try to seduce my regular diamond Frame boys Bikes ..

Very cool, I'm still on the hunt for whatever cruiser I want.. I think I'd like something prewar though, though it's a bit of a pain to find a non womens frameset from that era at a decent price.
