Bike winter prep
 

Like always every winter i try to prepare my bike the best i can to prevent salt from eating at my steel/alloy frame and have yet to find a good way to stop rust from happening ..even tried Plastikote which seemed to be a good idea at first but ended up worse imo ..any good tips out there ?

Car wax?

I have been waxing my bikes every other months thru the years and gives it a certain protection against grime , bugs (60km/h downhill) but have yet to protect the oxidation from getting under the paint ..i know some are using a type of product to protect the inside tubes now i forget the name but i was wondering if anything else is available for paint protection besides wax/grease !?!

Probably washes away but WD-40 works for my bare frames until I paint them:
This has been "bare" for 6 months, granted it was ridden in the rain but it was subjected to high humidity during the summer months. Only applied WD-40 twice. My Tandem is in the same state and is used more often:

How is WD-40 used ..sprayed over bare metal and wipe excess ?? Is it also used inside tubes ?
