This is my first project:

(I know, I know, is it the bike or the shop...) a general cleaning (I know, I know...) which she of which she is in desperate need, and some paint work.

Mostly minor touch-up, but for:

For which she'll be attended to by Danny as Side Alley Restorations in Westborough.

Then there's the Torpado and Dad's Paramount...

Lots of cleaning and polishing... Some parts just came in, most I have on-hand, and some have yet to arrive. This will also receive a front rack and light at some point. Need a saddle clamp and maybe post. I'm torn on rim choice - it'll likely be either Velocity Synergy or Atlas (650b). Open to suggestions or experiences - I've heard of quality issues on the Synergy which are apparently resolved at this point. Atlas might be more than I need.

Edit: Found a saddle clamp that works much better with the Ideale's rails. Fits the stock post.

Here in Minneapolis in the winter, road cycling is rather limited to after the plows remove the snow. My winter project was to get a fat bike which I did and I have been having a blast. As far as my other winter project - got new seat, new tires and new handle bars for my SL3 Roubaix along with a Garmin 500. Going to change everything out and get her ready for spring.

I noticed this thread asked "what is your winter project" and not "projects" ...

Recently finished a Fuji S12-S
Now working on a 1985 Schwinn World Sport and 1980(?) Motobecane Super Mirage(?) Mixte

All for selling back to the CL market to finance the next project...

What a great comment! Now I don't have repaint any of the old bikes. I can just describe them as having a richly deserved patina.

Here's a photo of one my winter projects, photo taken waiting for the FD clamp to arrive but otherwise complete. So far have only ridden it on the trainer due to a just a wee bit of snow on the roads.

Edit: 1981 Apollo Imperial. Tange 2 tubing, 7spd 105 groupset, DA7200 chainset, Mavic wheels w/ Shimano 105 hubs, Dynamic stem, Nitto bars, GC brake levers.

What a beast.

My bestest riding buddy has an Instigator. Such a versatile bike.

Fuji Touring Series IV is getting a new sealed bottom bracket and a set of cranks, as well as some metalwork to make the racks come out right and proper. A longer stem and a few other touches will complete the work, which will get me to the drop bar tourer I'm making out of a Schwinn Woodlands, and a few upgrades to my Trek 800. Nothing fantastic or fancy, just some basic work on some inexpensive but fun bicycles.

I just started a thread about my new winter project (Rockhopper) but my perpetual winter project is my 1970 Raleigh Sport that I might actually complete this winter since my partner would love to ride it (and it will be her first bike).

Here's mine. The way it looks now, I'm going to build it with a Sturmey FW hub and a Cyclo derailleur. Other than that, I dunno. It'll be the first single bicycle I have owned that is fillet brazed.

I have a few things running currently. First, I'm in the final stages of a new shed. The goal for today is to get the roof shingled, and beat the rain in tomorrow's forecast. After that it will be down to paint. It's been a fun/frustrating process. I don't do a lot of wood related stuff, but I was fortunate to have a father who was very talented in that medium - and I picked up a few things along the way. I did manage to learn a few more things during the construction...which is never a bad thing.
In the bike world...I scored a Serotta Speciale. These bike were sold through Performance and came equipped with an Athena groupo and Mavics. Mine seems mostly stock, and the Athena indexed shifters shift way better than I had anticipated they would. The paint is rough, but I really like the color - and it has a nice pearl clear coat as well. I need to get a few more rides in after some bar and stem tweaks, before it gets completely torn down. At that point I will decide what I want to do paint wise. I am also toying with the idea of switching out the Campy for a Dura-Ace 7400 group. I have most of the parts on hand.

Finished one project. I had it built up 7 speed 105. Then a friend of mine wanted to buy it but he also wanted more. I let him "build a bike" out of my parts bin. Well he picked it out, I built it, to be the best bang within budget. Trek 560 Pro Series built up with a mix of parts. The brifters do not match. The right side is Dura Ace in ruff condition but working great. The left is a 600 Tri Color brifter that is missing the face plate but works great. Not bad for a frankenbike. Rides great!! He is buying his own tape and will add a better seat and pedals on his own in time.

small project. Drop bars on my Cannondale Quick 5 with integrated shifter/brakes so I can use it as a gravel road
bike here in southern VT. I love the bike, it is comfortable and geared well for those steep gravel
climbs.

My Felt Z 5 isn't bad on packed gravel, but it will be nice to jump on the Cannondale and ride the roads
right out of my door.
