Bridgestone Cyclone
3 Attachment(s)
Here is my newly refurbished Bridgestone Cyclone. Upgraded to AR II rear derail., Suntour SL front derail., SR cranks from a C. Itoh, and a headlight from a Ted Williams Free Spirit. Fits really well, paid $25 bucks for it, and put new wires / housing, re packed the bottom hub and headset. Just rode 12 miles on it here in the CA country side... good times.

Wwowww... Nice. Judging from the headbadge, it's what- a '74, '75?
Btw, is that the original handlebar? I dunno if any of you have ever noticed, but it's always seemed to me that a lot of these older Japanese bikes from the '70s used a narrower diameter tubing for the HBs.... I don't have that much direct experience with them, but is that really the case, or is it maybe just an optical illusion? |
Great job!

The steel bars are 22.2mm, 7/8", like a mountainbike, which begs for some thicker tape. Alloy bars are 24mm, 15/16" diameter. The clamp diameter is always bigger, 25mm (French), 25.4mm (Japanese and other lower-level), 25.8 (TTT), 26.0(ITM and others) or Cinelli/Ambrosio (26.4). |
Nice job, looks great in the sun! :thumb:

Btw, that's a really pretty shade of green, like a very pale moss-green. |
The name on the handlebar is Jun. Unfortunately there is a scary looking crack across the neck, so I'm going to swop it out for the C. Itoh bars I have which are also Jun. I'll take a pic when I get to it, it's got an interesting wrap for the break levers and the are tilted inward pretty dramatically. The cranks are SR from the C. Itoh I mentioned, bought them both at the same time from a guy for $55 for both bikes. Didn't know they are both very similar, and I believe both Bridgestone... not so sure tho. The cyclone originally had crappy, and please correct me on this, cotter pin cranks? The SR cranks where square taper and looked a lot better with the red dust caps. I'd really like to clear coat this bike, but the stickers are kinda peeling and not sure how that would work out.
Thanks for the thoughts / compliments, super stoked on this $25 referb! |
