Raleigh DL-1 Tourist on the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath

Hi Folks,

Here is a link to a snippet of a film I shot while riding the mighty Tourist on the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath a few weeks ago. The vid lasts about 3 minutes if you are interested.

It was a very pleasant 35f morning. The camera was pointed backwards but I wished it was forward on this ride because I encountered a buck on the path that ran along with me for about 50 yards.

The Raleigh is riding perfectly with no issues at all.

Thanks for posting! The Tourist is my favorite C & V bike. Watching you ride yours from the warmth of my house is better than riding mine at the 28F it is outside right now, LOL.

Very nice bike. Here's a mug shot of mine.

Neat vid and different perspective. I especially like the shadow of the rider while in motion.

You guys have some beautiful DL-1's. Mines fairly rough but planning a little love and attention this coming Winter. Cheer's-

Thanks LC99
Your DL1 is very nice! I like the carrier in black. The Raleigh won’t be out for a little while here on the north coast. We got about 8” of snow last night and its 23f out there right now. Kinda early for this.

GHM,
The camera is a Drift hd 1080p. It has been working well and is durable. I use it mainly for dirtbike rides.

Crank addict,
I liked the shadow too. A real abstract view. Your DL1 will clean up nice I’m sure (how about some pics?). Mine transformed better than planned with just a thorough polishing. The millions of nicks and scratches were fixed with an artist’s brush and plain old enamel. The frame was positioned so the scratches were “up”. This way, there were no runs and the paint filled the scratch crater. Only problem was you had to wait for the paint to dry before flipping the frame around.

I 'm posting a reply to a PM here because I am not able to send PM's until I reach 50 posts (currently at 26 posts...thats a lot of videos to get busy on!! Maybe some winter rides.).

The helmet cam was attached to a standard helmet-cam clip tie wrapped to the frame. The secret to the stable image is the wide angle lens. A smooth image is gained at the cost of some distortion.
