Raleigh Mountie 3 speed bicycle
I used to ride a Raleigh Mountie 3 speed bicycle.
At one point I had a 5 speed Sturmey Archer hub inside
I sold it and the guy wrecked it to junk.
I would love to set up one for relive the memories. Where could I get one to purchase?

I called it 14 because the seat tube was 14 inches. Raleigh Bicycle Brochure for 1964?
I changed the wheels to 20" with bmx tyres.
Here is a photo for that who don't remember them

They do show up now and again, but rarely in the 3 speed version. I have seen only one on eBay and they wanted crazy money for it.
I have a girls coaster brake model in my garage that my kinds learned to ride on.
I had originally bought it for my sister in 1977. She kept it, or rather my grandfather did for a long interval.

Nice Scraper build. Those cranks look dangerously long, be careful with your turns.

Something like this procedure, with the crank cut and resize from 170mm to 160mm.

Banned.
I've never seen a 3s Mountie, but I passed a single speed on to Dr Deltron years ago.
How's that for a flash to the back?
Anyone hear from the good Dr lately?

IMO, it's going to be a problem keeping enough meat around the new hole to maintain adequate strength of the crank. @rhm drilled some 175's for me (knee rotation problems) but they ended up at ~145 mm. I don't thing you'll ever find the clearance to safely get 160 mm out of 170 crank arms. If you succeed, may I hire you to mod a couple for me?

It is something that I had done before. Better yet I could resize a 175mm to 160mm.
A bicycle mechanic that I know, who specialize is Raleigh has done it on his Raleigh Mountie, he used Sakae SA resize (without the shims - just used the tap to rethread). He's the one who recommends using Sakae SA to me.
I personally prefer Shimano, I had in the passed used Shimano 175mm resized to 160mm. The Shimano crankset has a wider width that the Sakae.
