Assembly/setup help in Mad City

No, it's not a bikesdirect.com bike.

I've built a bike for a relative and must ship it to the frozen tundra.
She is not mech-savvy, so assembly and tune would be appropriate.

If you don't know where Mad City is, probably safe to move on.

If you do, please consider it and help her avoid using BBC.

I'm willing, but don't know how "able."

Shoot me a PM.

Bianchigirll 11-26-14 07:36 AM

Mad City? BBC? British Broadcasting Company?

Henry III 11-26-14 09:17 AM

Budget bikes?

Bianchigirll 11-26-14 12:15 PM

Mad City = Madison?

Mad-town is preferred.

If timing doesn't matter, it is cold and snowy there, I will be in town for the swap January 10. I can assemble then.

Let me know.

If you don't get any truly local assistance with this, and aren't in a great hurry, I'm sure I'll be down that way before spring. You could ship it here and I'll do the assemble/tune then deliver for a twelve pack of local flavors.

Pete brings up a good point. You could ship it to me and I can deliver it to the swap in January.

Got a response from Mount Horeb, where she actually lives.
Rather than support us at Dairyland Dare, she's going to try her first century there.

So, what kind of bike did you build for her?

52 cm1993 Specialized Allez Epic Carbon, courtesy of sloar:
Black carbon tubes, silver lugs and fork.
Black 105 calipers on the polished fork and brake bridge.
Black 105 RD on the polished RD hangar
Black SRAM Apex FD with a black band and polished cage.
Black Felt carbon seatpost with identical weave to the seat tube.
Black Bertoni quill stem and Silver Cinelli 64-40 bars
Black 105 5600 STI shifters
Black Vuelta Corsa Lite wheels with alloy nipples and machined braking surfaces.
Silver SRAM BB cups, black SRAM Rival compact crankset, 50/34
Dura Ace cassette, 12-27
Nickel plated chain
Golden yellow Jagwire housing/Selle Italia saddle/Bontrager wrap/Elite cages/lettering/Vittoria Rubino Pro III tires (stripes, not the whole tire)
Black Transit bag
Black Forte pedals with cleats, Black toe clips that insert into the pedals (if she wants to wear running shoes as a beginner or in a sprint triathlon)
Just under 18 lbs without pedals and cages.

I tried to mount black next to silver where possible, keep the contrast going.
Then I added stuff to match the lettering.
She will appreciate the accessorizing....and it will match a Livestrong helmet.

Plus, she can wear a Packers jersey and match the bike.
