Look Forward...2015 Acquisitions...
OK...so we had the 2014 "what did we acquire" thread...now...about a 2015 thread? If you are limited to n+1 only...not n+1+1+1, etc...what one bike/frame would you add to your collection????
For me...for now...to finish out my Schwinn "kick"...I would like to add a nice pre-1980 Schwinn Superior...of course there are others...but, following the rule I set...I can ONLY acquire 1...so...that would be it... |
A Colnago frameset.

Any one in particular????
I'm not picky but maybe a Nuovo Mexico. |
Size M Wraith Paycheck
Columbus Life/Zona tubing (seat stays) Whiskey #9 (disc) or Columbus FEL (canti) fork SRAM 1x10 w/44T narrow-wide chainring SRAM X7 clutched RD w/11-32 cassette Set-back post and shorter stem to duplicate my Hustle geo, but 25mm rearward Brakes to depend on wheels Wheels to depend on disc or canti Tires will be 35-42. If canti, I'll have 2 sets of wheels/tires: gravel/path and off-road. If disc, I'll only buy one set of wheels, either 700c wide or 29'er narrow. Should be fun. The BMC SL01 RoadRacer will leave to make room, but I'm not going to take a bath on it. Possibly the Lotus Classique, but no one appreciates it enough to buy it, even at reduced pricing. Way down the line, this time next year, at the earliest: another Ironman. |
Ironman frameset. Earlier year. I just can't stand the way the unicrown fork looks.
Undecided what group to use. I'm positive budget will dictate that decision. |
Anything and everything...as long as it's equipped with Campy Record.
|
Would like to add a De Rosa to the stable.
|
I'm in the middle of part-gathering to finish my wife's new Terry frame, so I'll be purchasing for that for a few months to come.
For me, I think I'll head toward another 650b frame for me, then to sell my Terraferma. Maybe a Boulder Allroad ... ? Though the Ocean Aire is in the same price range. |

I have been searching for three very hard to find bicycles for several years now.
I have found all three. Two are from the 1970s, one from 1980. Pics and information as the year unfolds. |

I want to start looking for older bikes, turn of the century and prewar bikes. Love to find a wood rim track bike.
|
I'd like to pick up a road bike with a carbon frame and wide range gearing (20 to 27 speeds) and a modern drivetrain. As I am sure my budget will top out in the $500 vicinity, I'll be looking at used bikes from the mid - 2000s.

2015 will be the year of disposals. Any acquisition will have to leave shortly after.
+10 More focus on experiences, less focus on acquisitions. It will also be the year of the consolidation. This means selling the 3300 sq ft house, with a 900 sq ft workshop, and consolidating into the 980 sq ft rock house, and nearby duplex. Garage is currently under construction. |
OS stainless tubing set. Road frame crit geometry, Campagnolo super record with a Bora wheelset.
|
I am trying not to add to my stable however, if a Raleigh Team Professional with Reynolds 753 tubing shows up I will be adding one.
|
Size? Oh, I forgot, I am trying not to add to my collection. But......

I want to thin my herd, while improving the quality of the stock. I think my Viscount will stay whatever. I think the main bike related acquisition this year will be a trail along to replace the seat on the back of the Grand Prix beater bike.

2014 was a year of restraint, I demurred on a few bikes. Possibly the concept for 2015 is to convert some to capital and be ready when the occasion arises. |
Something else with full Reynolds- a PX-10, International, Superior, or Volare, or a mid-70's Schwinn Super Le Tour, the ones with the capella-look lugs and double-butted 4130.

Olmo mixtie

Leaving: All-City Mr. Pink, Surly Troll frame set, Romic frame set
Coming: On-One 45650B frame (here). On the hunt for an 80's sport/touring lugged steel bike to serve as my all-rounder. |
Hmmm...
Although I get googly eyes for different bikes (oh how those Jack Taylors exude CLASS)- the next thing I really should go for is a modern bike- I want an Ellis, chrome, triple, tour-y; modern- yet classic. Flog00 has his Tomii custom build well underway- all the little parts were realized a long time ago- oddly enough, my "dream" build is a lot like his Tomii is coming. If I ever do commit to this- it's going to look like my bike is mirroring his. Heck, I think we even ride the same size. |
I would love to lay hands on a mid -70's Centurion Semi-Pro frameset or full bike. I have a too-large bike of the same model and vintage and would love to move the parts over to a more appropriately sized 54 or 56cm frame.
