The only thing I would consider as an upgrade (assuming you're keeping it) would be a better saddle (I like Brooks) and perhaps a freewheel swap-out, for one that has ramps (i.e., one designed for indexed shifting). Even with friction shifters, indexed cogs make shifting gears very smooth (no clackity-clack).

Very possible, also, I went back and looked at some of those other "1983" catalog pages online and compared them to the full 1983 and 1984 catalogs. I believe they have been mislabeled and are actually from the 1984 catalog. Then again, how many times have we seen the bikes that were actually sold vary from the catalogs and brochures? More than I can count. Regardless, they're nice riding bikes that are under appreciated. I drove 30 miles to get mine and paid a premium for it with no regrets and I'd do it again. :D

Thanks everyone. I will keep you posted on the progress. I took her for a quick ride yesterday and she sure is smooth. I really like how these Fuji's handle.
