Now that's class. Beautiful. Could be like the Packard auto's of the period (but being English, perhaps a Rolls).

Would love to see more pics of it.

That is beautiful. When I saw "Sun" I was thinking of the tricycles that old people ride around the retirement villages.

Gorgeous bike OP. I think I speak for many who would love to hear the whole story of this project (I'm assuming you did the resto?). Thanks for sharing.

The story: This bike was found hanging in the rafters of an old house that was to be demolished in down town San Antonio Texas(of all places)And it was not one of those "barn" fines that had never been ridden. It came house painted, ghetto drive(missing derailleur) & plastic seats, But it did have the original wheels/ hubs/and cranks. After researching what I had, it was determined to be a 1935(dated by the Williams stamped cranks) Model A TriVelox geared(the rear hub and freewheel are specific to this derailleur)And the headbadge was a Sun Cycle and Fittings badge. The decals were available from England, but I had to find a derailleur that they only made for about 3 years(1932 to 1935)After 35 Trivelox changed the derailleur to use an internal selector rod. So after a long wait the correct derailleur poped up on Ebay and I was lucky enough to be the first to see it. A Gent had started a project but never finished it---the derailleur came with the selector shifter and some extra parts. With all the correct parts it was just a matter of putting it together. Red-D-Bikes of San Antonio did the paint. Jones and Son did a new headbadge for it. And I've made the cables. I've also restored a 1937 Ernie Russ tandem/1952 Chaud Butler/1953 MacLean feather weight/and 1955 Fothergill.

Hi Frameteam2003, How can I get in touch with Jones & Son? I need this same head badge for my mid 30's Sun "Club Derailleur". Hey Rudi if your looking, what were the pedals on that bike? I got a set of the Resillion brakes for it but I'd love to put the original type pedals back on.

Matt, I don't do facebook any more!

The original pedals were Lyotard "Marcel Berthet" with Cyclo "Oppy" toe clips. I'll soon post photos of my newly repainted Fothergill sporting those pedals.

Wow, that's gorgeous. Did you happen to see my new thread about my Dawes tandem project? I thought it was supposed to have Williams cranks, but they're certainly not like yours. Where would the date code be if they were Williams?

There "should be" a date code on each part; on the back of each crank arm, near where it attaches to the spindle; and on the back of each chain ring. They can be hard to see. On the front of a Williams crank arm, turned so spindle is at the top and the pedal at the bottom, you should see the word WILLIAMS just below the spindle. If it isn't there, you probably don't have a Williams crank, so no date codes. Evidently at least one of the big Birmingham cycle factories made a generic Williams crank copies.

I was going to pay someone to do it, but in the end I decided to do it myself (again). I'll bump my thread and post a couple photos.

here, check it out. Let's not hijack this thread too much (though perhaps Sam will tolerate the Fothergill update)

What kind of headlight is that, and what's the power source? The Dawes came with a Lucas dynamo set in '35, but they had changed to a Miller set by '37.
