does anyone know where to get replacement rim eyelets?
 

Title says it all, but here's more if you want it:

I have a rim (nothing very special, brown anodized matrix Sonic) that's missing one eyelet, and a second eyelet on the same rim is somewhat messed up. Would you believe: it looks like someone tried to remove it.

I've tried Google and Amazon searches for replacement eyelets for rims, and find mostly threads on this forum asking how to replace rim eyelets; but no one has suggested a source for replacement rim eyelets.

Hence my question.

So of course I now undestand why someone removed an eyelet from my rim: he needed it for another rim. So... does anyone have a FUBAR rim that has eyelets that could be scrounged?

Why don't you use washers?

If I can't find an eyelet, I will. But a decent eyelet would be far preferable. It's a double wall rim; the outer hole is 9 mm diameter, the inner hole 6 mm diameter. I can definitely make some kind of an oblong washer that would support the hole a bit, but it would be tricky, and I'm not sure how much good it would do.

I think that the idea here is to have an eyelet that shares the spoke tension force between the inner and outer walls of the rim.

Since the eyelet is flanged to rest against the inner rim wall (the wall that the rim tape adheres to), the eyelet must be an exact height from the hub-side wall up to the eyelet flange to apply spoke tension force to both walls.

So for sure, only an eyelet specific to this rim is likely to have such an exact height. I think the OP needs to find a similar, but damaged/worn rim from which to source the exact eyelet.

As for any sort of washer kluge, this would probably be fine on the non-drive side of the rear wheel, or possibly on the front wheel.

If you have measurements or an example, a machine shop can make one.
