A Gold Beauty - Another First
Back in December I was alerted to an interesting frameset that had appeared on eBay. I have been very good this past year at avoiding the purchase of new framesets, but this one was so special I couldn't help myself. I took a few pictures of the fork, but I'll not have time to show the rest of the frame until later. Pics below. Enjoy!

That's really unusual and pretty. I'm interested in seeing the rest of the bike and how you decide to build it up.

This is like a C&V strip tease, as opposed to outright C&V bike porn.

I'm not much of a fork crown expert, but you may be correct. For date: Post-War. MCMXLs. When you see the frame, you'll understand the logic. I promise to have the frame pictures posted later today.

I vote Norman for the frame, not the fork crown. I defer to Norris L when obscure bits are concerned, but he's not posted in weeks.

You guys definitely know my fondness for Norman.
Here's a couple hints. It's not southern UK. Think boutique builder.
LL, it's earlier than 1950's. Estimated early post-war period. Once the remainder of the pics are posted, you'll see why.

Also, the frameset has a fair bit of patina as evidenced by the fork, but is otherwise sound. The boxlining is very well-done and in an uncommon fashion (dare I say unique?) which would make it nearly impossible to re-create. In combination with the fact this is the original finish, this gold bike shall remain in its original dress.

I believe that's a Brampton fork crown, which would mean the maker had access to Brampton fittings, which would narrow the field to someone working in the last century or so. Progress!

.
I realize it's not exactly the same, but Brampton made a lot of different style lugs etc.

I'll take responsibility for putting this particular blip on the @photogravity radar screen, so I'm not going to annoy you with spurious guesses. I know what it is. But I will offer, as a hypotheses, that the frame was made in 1950.
