What should I do with this bike
 

So I bought a 1994 Barracuda A2RS today off CL. This is a bike I always wanted BITD. It is a new bike, with the tags still on it, that was laying in a shop for the last 20 years. It has some minor scratches on the paint in places (nothing too serious). I just couldn't pass up the deal at the price.
The problem is it is a 16" and I am 6' tall. The seat post goes high enough to fit me. The saddle to bar drop is huge. The top tube on this bike is longer than most others and is nearly what my other bikes are. I can ride it OK, but I don't think it would be comfortable for very long rides.
So what do you all think? Keep it and ride it once in a while to the store etc. or clean it up and try to flip it.

Flip it. No point in keeping a bike that doesn't fit. IMHO.

+1 . If it doesn't fit, you won't be happy. Bicycles should make you happy. More bicycles will make you more happy. Soon you will have a garage-full of bicycles and your spouse will wonder why you're so happy when the garage is such a mess.

At least that's how it worked for me.

Put it up on the "Frame Doesn't Fit" thread and see if anything equally interesting comes your way.

basic rule in buying a bike is always go for the right size period!

give/sell (cheaply) to one of your shorter riding buddy's just getting into riding. this way you can still ogle over it, re-live the BITD desire, and maybe he would even let you ride it sometimes.

I agree - riding a bike that doesn't fit is no fun. On the other hand, I understand it can be hard to let go of a bike like that. I need to part from a frame that is too small for me as well and haven't been able to yet.

If your picture is showing the saddle adjusted for your height, the saddle to bar difference looks like it can probably be fixed by swapping to a stem with more upward angle. You would have to put on new cables due to the increase in height, but you still would get to keep your dream bike.

If changing the stem won't work, then I would look for a frame that fits better and transfer the components over to it.

The pic is as I bought it. When the saddle is right for me it is more than twice that high. I think you all are right I should clean it up and sell it. Make a few bucks and sink it into another bike to keep my habit going. :)

It would suck to have a bike that you really want to ride, but really can't comfortably.

Sell this one, and maybe someday one in your size will come around...

Even when I went to look at it I knew it wasn't my size. But the price was so good. It was a total impulse buy.
