'Regina Sport' bicycle (Images and commentary)

Seen today at the Hoosier Bicycle show and swap in Lebanon Indiana - "Regina Sport" - I was thinking it looked early 1970s but the bottle-cage braze-ons threw me. Seemed not to be a repaint. The price was $500.00 and almost my size. Rims were tubulars, hubs Campy. Seemed to have very early Dura-ace CP brakes, but the levers were Dia-Compe, the rest looks like campy gran sport. SR stem with Randonneur bars, the seat post was an interesting 3TTT number with a pivoting allen-bolt saddle-tilt adjuster, but I forgot to take a photo of the underside of the saddle area. Dropouts were Campy but the tubing is unknown. Are those Prugnat lugs?

I have no clues about this bike. Had never even heard of Regina road bikes until today. Thought they just made drive-train components.http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=430241http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=430242http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=430243http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=430244http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=430245http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=430246http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=430247http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=430248http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=430249http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=430250http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=430251

I have a Regina Sport, and here's what I found on the net so far.

Regina Sport is a French brand, owned by the Ets Betbeder in Oloron-Ste-Marie. The frames were reportedly made by Cycles CAYRE, a small local artisan. Besides 'Regina Sport', they were also badged 'Lapebie' and 'Louison Bobet'

They're no that obscure. ;)

Here are some Regina Sport machines I've found earlier, while researching my find:

Emile's Velosvintage blog

Rafbor's Regina Sport ‘3 Tubes’ on Tontonvelo

Vincent's white SS

Several Reginas in this Tontonvelo thread (Giovanni's light blue Regina, Le Voyageur's grey example, and another blue one owned by Marco47)

Obscure enough that there has been not one on ebay in the past three months. It seems that all but one of those links is French. The sticker by the shifters is a bicycle shop in Pau France. The address of 15 Rue Carnot is legitimate. On one of those links, the Reynolds 531 sticker was located precisely where the dealer sticker is on this bike. Perhaps the dealer placed that sticker there in place of a mangled 531 sticker? who knows...

Seems that this sticker on this bike was a dealer in Pau France and maybe a past owner brought it to the states? So much more popular of a brand in Europe I suppose? Perhaps not imported to the states at any time? Kind of wishing I had made an offer on it, as it is in very good condition and quite unique.

Yesterday evening, the guy who has it now made a comment on a post that I had made elsewhere. He says that he doesn't know history of the bike but he did do the latest refurbish and build. He is the one who placed the stem, bars, brakes, saddle and post on the bike. He also says it is original paint, and he believes that the wheels and Campy parts are original to the bike.
