^ always do ... and the kickstand, stem shifters, fat tires, ugly seatpost bolt and chainguard.

so that's one vote for white tape!

That's going to be a sharp bike when you're finished ! May also want to add a third top tube cable clamp.

Amazing how that spiffs a bike up. As for tape I match it to the seat.

definitely. and i was wondering about that. there doesn't seem to be a mark in the paint from the 'missing' clamp. kinda weird.

it's a bit of a catch-22.

on the one hand, black looks dressy and manly. on the other, it can look too plain or too halloween paired with an orange frame.

and white can be eye-catching and racey ... but also girly and not serious.

these are the great decisions that try men's souls.

well, that turned out rather well ...

Very elegant.

Great!

How nice that you still have the downtube decals. Only a couple of the letters were left on my '77 Pro Tour when I got it, and I finished the job of removing them quite easily. The bikes from this era are, to me, the pinnacle of craft and design, and orange is clearly the best color :)

I always thought brown looked good with orange, brown avoids "Halloween" and "girly" and it hides dirt well. I have a 1983 Schwinn Super Sport frame that will be painted orange and I have a Honey Brown Brooks B17 and matching bar tape set aside for it.

Graham Chapman and John Clease make pretty good looking centurions.

Check out the serial number on this Centurion Super LeMans, it is one greater than yours.

I had a similar miami vice centurion that I really liked: lemans rs. this pic is stolen from another inmate as I don't have any pics of mine. It was stolen many years ago now.

thanks, hummer. the bike you referenced (m5k03839) is indeed the next one in serial compared to mine.

i'll guess they're both the same model, super le mans.

the only real oddity with mine is brake reach. the rear center pull i assume is original reaches only with the wheel near the very front of the dropout, else the pad hits the tire.
