IMHO They've sold too many ads with Java content that bring it to it's knees. It's caused me to drastically curtail my use of the site in the past few weeks

buy a subscription, ads are gone and performance is just fine. Make sure you don't have background apps running like AV scanning.

Membership is cheap and will improve your quality of life. Sell a few things on here and it will pay for its own way. Speed is the last concern I have with the forums.
There must be a hundred other ways it can be improved. Why does it take so many steps to upload photos? Why does the site look like it's from the early 2000's?
My wife is on Ravelry (THE knitting forum) and it is amazing the difference between us and them. Of course Ravelry is HUGE. Still, there is room for immense improvement on BF. Give us a more visually stimulating site with more amenities, please. I understand BF is run by volunteers, so maybe this is the best we can expect.

I kind of like the clunky, simple, old-school look of this place, and when using a separate hosting service (photobucket, flickr, etc), it's easy enough to paste in the proper link for posting a photo. Since I've learned not to bother with the search function, I'm very happy with the way this site works.
Paid membership is the way to go; gets rid of all those ads loading and slowing things down on my old computer anyway. Not to mention the extra real estate on screen for content.

I play my guitar every day & twice on Sunday, so there.
I can't ride, it is winter in Texas, it's wet & in the high 30's, so we're pretty much shut down.
So I suppose I'll do that membership thing.

Nothing is wet here, because it is all frozen. Temps have been cycling above and below zero for the last two weeks. On the bright side, I could bike to Canada without having to go through Detroit first.

Log out and log back in. That helps speed things up if it gets sluggish.
