The weak point I see is that the lexan will eventually cloud from UV, rendering charging pretty minimal, alternately they imply that you could charge it at home.
Car headlight lenses in Southern California make it about 5 years before they start to go.

It really isn't that hard to carry a key for a lock and key u lock. I have a feeling less expensive, as well. BUt what do I know, I like simplicity

They did not go far enough with the design.......All it needs is an optional receiver, barrel, laser sight, and multiple shot magazine package to fit into the cross bar to be complete.
Oh, they should not forget to include a designer styled ammo bandolier for people who ride in the toughest urban areas.....

A few have greater "grab" capacity. The concept of locking both ends of the U is interesting as one cannot cut and then twist away and get the bike free.
For my usage, riding up to the front of a store like a Trader Joe's, locking the bike up to a railing that is not going anywhere, capturing both wheels and the frame at once is what I do.
This lock pushes you to remove the front wheel to capture both. (the problem of any U lock).
It is an interesting concept. And kind of feel it is at concept stage, Summer intro… so, they have till September, it is close to mid march, in the product development, tooling, production world… if they don't have all the tooling done NOW, and are just ready to press the button and order parts, it will be late. The discount intro price is too little, they need capital is my assessment.

Hah! "the social way" to lock a bike...really?
Is "social" the new "green"?
One sour curmugeon-ish thot: if this is controlled by MY iphone or Android, how long before some high-school hacker figures out how to instantly unlock all of them and sells the hack online? Keep updating the security software, and stay one step behind the hackers...
Remember the Kryptonite "scandal" with the 2-second lock-pick involving nothing but a plastic pen barrel (Flick your Bic and Pick a lock)?
Big expensive recall for Kryptonite...many thought it would ruin them forever, but they survived it.

I like it a lot. My house is keyless entry, so I could avoid an entire keychain with this. Actually considering it.

Yup, on rainy days you can unlock from the dry comfort of van.
Plus, how much fun will it be to handle every bike you come across with such a device.....then sit back as see how long it takes for the owner to show up? Some calculating thief will use that to their advantage I'm sure

Generally those claims against dogs don't work, though some insurance companies will settle out. I'm not much worried either way.
Fortunately we don't have many angle grinder thieves.

Beat me to it. The Snob sums this stuff up perfectly in my opinion. Hail Snob.
