1960 bianchi Record

Hi bike experts.

I just got another Bianchi, it says record (yes record) on the down tube and looks exactly like this but in better condition

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...A1B97AD251.png

I can't seem to find any info on this bike, where it stood in the line up, any meaning to the name or anything like that.

Either way I won't be selling it, everything works on it and looks great with the chrome

Thanks for any info you can give me

Hi, welcome to C&V! You might shout out to @Bianchigirll. for some reason she know some of the models over the years. There are others but for some reason her handle is the first to come to mind.

Beautiful bike but sorry that is too old for me.

I can't tell you much about it but I have the same bike in the same blue as your picture. Although I think it is a nice looking and riding vintage bike it certainly is not a high end model. I would suspect is low end in the Bianchi line up.

Early 60s had the Specialissima and the Competizione as the top two dogs.

More and better pictures would be helpful.

this is the bottom. heavy and dead ride. really only suitable for a wall piece. they did make lower models under their b-line badge "Normano."

Sorry the blue bike was just an example not of the actual bike.
Also sadly now that I look at it I see it is in even worse shape than the blue one in the picture

here is mine

It looks a lot like this bike, I know it isn't, just surprised how much alike the frames are, even down to the gold painted trim around the lugs and head badge

Bianchi 1963 Competizione Classic Italian Race Bike Campagnolo Record

I don't really expect much from these old bianchi's, I doubt any old Bianchi could feel in anyway fast like my full carbon Scott or DD Ti lightspeed.

To me all of these old bikes are just for the slow sunny Sunday ride with the wife or as pieces of art of how things used to be.

I like it. It is a cool bike. Put some good tires on it and it should be fun.

Remember, Bianchi was/is a larger factory builder. They could run frames through the same process but use different tubing. Yours is probably straight gauge. They they hung the cheaper French (it looks French) groupset. I don't know how well that shifts, but you can always upgrade that stuff.

Enjoy the ride.

Well said. While that may not be one of the high end models, it is still super cool. Not many bikes from this era show up, Bianchi or otherwise.
Love it.

Been there ... done that. My first road bike was a 1962 Bianchi Corsa, purchased in December 1962 for $55 at Wheel World in the Los Angeles area. Huret Allvit derailleurs, 26x1-3/8x1-1/4" Pirelli Stella whitewalls, steel Universal sidepulls, cottered steel Bianchi-labled crankset, Bianchi-labeled tensioned leather saddle, lots of Ambrosio and Magistroni bits. After the front wheel got stolen I fitted it with 27" wheels, which required a short reach Weinmann 500 brake in front. I got a lot of use out of that bike before the frame finally failed at the front of the downtube, where it had been bent back and straightened once. I would put it about on par with a circa 1970 Peugeot AO-8.

I like it, full service, new tires, bar wrap and a leather saddle. Done and enjoy!

Thanks all for the input, I guess pretty much any bike model that has few hits on Google or posts on this forum must be on the lower end, makes sense since the most sought after bikes would have the most posts.

At least now this post will pop up on google the next time someone wants info on it.

I forgot to list the parts on it:
Gearset is huret, rear derailuer says allvit
Cranks and hubs are bianchi
wheels are rigida
brakes are universal mod 61

i still need to perform the rest of the basic maintenance stuff (only did the headset so far) but am looking forward to riding it.
