The before pictures and the tale of how this bike came to me can be found here:

It's been a little over a year.
More pictures to follow; it's bloody cold and blowing half a gale.

Beautiful job Top, you know I'm a Mirella fan. Now put some snow tires on that baby and you'll be all ready for the CCRT in April!

That cleaned up beautifully, Top. Very nice job.
Full 'Yolo and an Ideale saddle. You got a steal on that package.
Interesting it came with a 26.4 seat post.

Same as my 1959 Capo, which is how I knew it was straight gauge instead of butted. (The 1960, which has the typical double butted top and down tubes and single butted (bottom end only) seat tube, takes a 27.2mm seatpost.)

MUCH better weather today, so more pictures:
NR coupled to Soma's VERY long cage.....
...working with Red Clover Components tripleizer should make hills a snap! (thank you, Jon.)
Pedals cleaned up nicely.....
...as did brake calipers......
...and headset. Hubs were anther matter, though.
The rear got pretty clean....
...but the front was another story.
Dia-Compe 204 hoods work well with the NR levers.
And now a teaser for the next post:

beautiful mirella! like to ask you if you were able to extract the quill stem from the head tube. I do have one mirella a totally beat up bike that I bought recently & that I'm going to restore it anytime soon, but my concern is that the stem needs to have a 9.5mm hex for me to be able to remove it. Any advice from your end is truly appreciated.

The 3ttt Record stem on my bike takes a 7mm hex.
I see you also have a Nishiki Medalist; not a lot of those around.

I did solve this problem yesterday by using a triangular file to make my 8mm hex smaller. Now I can freely start with my restoration. Well, I got this Nishiki Medalist from a bike recycler a couple of years ago. I love it and really amazed on how lighter this bike compare to my other bikes.

like to know if your mirella bike takes a 700c wheelset? mine is 27 & thinking about lacing it with a 700c. I just don't know if with this plan, I will need a longer reach caliper brakes. thanks!

FWIW she had her shakedown last weekend on the CCRT, about 47 miles total. Still have a little dialing in to do on the drivetrain but a nice ride overall.

Nice job Top506 ! Cleaned up very well. Went back and read the story again. Be sure and ride it over to the LBS so they know it went to a great home. They will continue to send others out the door with you, even if you complain
Is that FRESH snow ? This year ? Now ? I am not ready for snow pics...

did you keep the campy brake shoes, and if so, which pads did you use and how did the installation go?

The LBS and I have a mutual referral arrangement, since our product lines and customer base don't tend to cross. AND we get together Friday afternoons for a beer or three and ***** about our customers.

Sounds like a nice life... The LBS that I used to work for still lets me get sales at employee discounts and asks me if I want "old stuff"that customers discard. Most times I say yes, but no bikes so far.
again, nice bike for your collection.
