http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=457080http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=457076Hey guys i am new to this forum and kinda new to biking ...i am 33 years old 5.11" 342 LBS and last time i was on a bike i was 14 years old !!
about a year ago i was 404 LBS so i decided to do something about it ..i started watching what i eat and i started walking about 3-5 miles a day 4 times a week
it will be a year exactly on june 15th and so far i have lost 62 lbs and i stopped walking and dieting for like 3 months from Sep-Dec.
recently i have been looking into buying a bike to add biking to my diet and excercise plan but i didnt know if there is a bike that can hold my weight esp i dont have extra $400 to spend on a bike so i kept searching and reading reviews online and i stumbled into 29" Genesis Onex Cruiser Men's Bike, from Walmart
alot of people in the reviews said that they were around my weight or heavier and that the bike is holding good enough so far and i really like the way this bike looks so i went a head and ordered one from Walmart for $141 and i just got it today and i assemebled it about an hour ago and went for my first ride in 19 years
i did 2 miles in 15 min and it felt really good ..hopefully i will be able to do more with time when i get used to it ....i love the bike so far but i am not a bike expert i just love that its big enough for my weight and will see how it goes in the future
sorry for the long story but i was excited and wanted to share my story with you guys and hopefully this bike will help me loose more weight and enjoy riding .

i tried uploading pictures of the bike kept saying uploading file failed.

Thanks

I bet you will get your $141 worth and then some :-), I will pull your bike up online and have a look when I get home tonight. Now is a great time to form good habits :-). I wipe my chain after every ride with Clorox or generic equiv wipes(two wiped, hold on chain and back pedal), then re apply lube, was using epic ride from walmart but just switched to pro link. Then wipe chain with a dry paper towel. Then I use one more wipe to go over the bike, and then wipe the tires looking for anything embedded in the rubber. Just feels wrong now not to do that before putting it away :-).

If you like and ride it, it's a good start. The only thing I might suggest on it, is have the spoke tension checked. For us clydes, the wheels will be the weak point, and a spoke that is not tensioned correctly can be the weak link on a wheel.

Since you're just starting, again. I'd recommend reading some of the articles on this site:

Sheldon Brown for Beginners

I'd especially look at the articles regarding starting/stopping and Seats/Saddles.

Your upload may have failed because the pictures were too big. If you either lower the resolution, crop it, or resize it to a smaller size, that may help.

Welcome, enjoy your new bike. Pay attention to how your knees feel. I'm thinking that saddle might be a bit low for you.

I have use the bike 3 times since I got ..and I did 2 then 3.8 then 4.4 Miles respectively with average speed 8-9 mph ..I think this bike is very good for weight loss because it makes you work hard idk if it's the bike or because of my weight but I an getting a good workout out of it to go along side walking to help me loose weight .
