It's the yellow month, but carry on...

Middle of the month I'll be starting to seriously train for CX. With 100° temps fall can't get here fast enough.

jsigone 07-02-15 04:20 PM

only 90 here but sunny 90* vs the thunderstorms plus heat we've had for the past couple days.

Hope it stays clear, taking the kiddos to Legoland tomorrow

TrojanHorse 07-02-15 06:00 PM

I hope it rains like heck - this humidity (stop laughing, people from the south) is killing me.

Oh, and my lawn is brown despite pouring water all over it.

dr_lha 07-03-15 06:55 AM

It's rained here probably every day in June. Feels like it anyway. I'm ready for some dry. Will no doubt get poured on during the fireworks tomorrow.

MikeRides 07-03-15 08:46 AM

Getting tired of all the rain we've been getting on the east coast. Between the weather, family emergencies, and work kicking my a$$ last month I'm pretty sure I forgot how to ride my bike. I can't wait for my first vacation in 8 years, gonna be a blast riding from Canada to NYC :-)

Your lawn probably has a fungus. A good garden center or lawn service should have a treatment for it.

My lawn has a water shortage, sun overage problem. We have ourselves a little drought out here. "pouring water on it" is a euphemism but if you looked at my water bill you'd think that's what's going on.

Thanks for starting this month's thread. I was camping 20 minutes out of cell service. Now back to work.

So..... in the back yard? :innocent:

Black wallnut 07-06-15 01:17 PM

Changed spark plugs and the oil on my large SUV getting ready for the STP trip....... Saturday
Decided that I needed to spray my lawn to kill a bunch of weeds on Sunday. One of the nozzle bodies on my sprayer was broken so off to the farm supply store first....... Guess it had been a couple years since I used the sprayer and the pump did not want to prime, finally got it done. In spite of having a lawn full of weeds I still am a slow bike rider.

Thankfully, no! I was here:

Got thunderstorms every day for a week. It was an AMAZING vacation. Completely unplugged. Drowned lots of worms and Powerbait. Caught quite a few fish, but none that I could brag about. Didn't matter. Scenery was great, and I got bacon every morning with breakfast. :thumb:

Don't worry, I guarantee that the drought in California will end with record rainfall during the last week of July and the first week of August, when I will be vacationing there. :)

Faaaaaaantastic! You'll be the most popular guy for hundreds of miles. If we're lucky, it'll even put out the fires. Woo hoo!

I figured you were slacking & getting drunk somewhere, who would have guessed it was outside of smog city

Ain't that the truth. We really didn't notice the lack of smog, however, as we drove home yesterday, the further south on the 395, then the 14, the worse the smog got....and I just wanted to turn around and leave it for good. My days in SoCal are numbered. The number is REALLY high right now, but when I retire at 92, I'm outa here!

Where in California will you be?

Where is that? Reminds me a bit of Lake McDonald in Glacier.

At the in-laws in Monrovia. No bike sadly.

Yeah. :(

My wife probably doesn't agree though!

TrojanHorse 07-07-15 09:58 AM

Bummer - there are some pretty awesome rides you can do from Monrovia! It's right off the San Gabriel River trail / Rio Hondo river trails if you just want long flat and carless, but you can head north up Azusa Ave (39) to Crystal Lake (or Dawson's Saddle if you're really feeling your oats), and/or you're within riding distance of that Glendora Mountain Ride we're always talking about. Rent a bike for a day and we'll drag you up there. There's also a bunch of weekly rides around the Rose Bowl (not far) and the semi-famous Montrose ride on Saturday mornings that's too fast for my blood. Too stop-sign-runny too, I'm not keen on being in a massive pack of people just blasting through red light after red light.

dr_lha 07-07-15 10:26 AM

All sounds lovely. I'm not getting my hopes up though, given my previous experiences of trying to get away from my family during these trips!
