You are so right. And you're starting to sound like @TrojanHorse.
Now; as a manager of mine once chimed in
Now, having said whatever I said...
Running is for criminals right @Black wallnut

Too many stories of bad stuff to single cyclists in Santa Ana - where I will be riding. I know, the odds are low, but still. Besides, I'll have a "fair" amount of pro audio gear in my truck. I probably shouldn't leave it unattended.

If running is for criminals @IBOHUNT then PJ on a bike should be fine. Maybe he should ride anyway but go with a little bit of protection. Douse himself with fox urine cover scent that'll keep the creeps away right?

Well, just let me know where you park when you go riding in Stabba Ana after dark and I'll uh, watch it for you.

I'm riding to drink wine this weekend. Each pit stop you get a card punch and each punch earns you a wine tasting at finish.

Nice. Sounds like fun. At first, I thought you were saying that you get wine at each sag stop. Oops.
PhotoJoanne and I did the Tour de Fuzz in Napa. As we were riding, I realized that while riding through the vineyards is beautiful, riding on the narrow roads with cars carrying people who are probably out wine-tasting is probably a bad idea.

The thread in the 41 simply delivers!
In further news I continue to mimic a criminal on nearly a daily basis. I have a long way to go to catch up with #IBOHUNT in distance or even speed.

It is a rather prolific species in fly over country. Most beautiful wood imo. BTW the misspelling in my username is intentional and has carried over from other forums. My life online started on a wood working forum.
Just a sample of my work....

People actually go out riding and don't just talk about it?
I try to keep it to a 1:2 ratio. A 1h45m group ride better mean 3h30min socializing afterwards over a turkey burger. Gotta have priorities. We had two people completely skip over the ride part and just showed up for the socializing last night. They're real pros.

OK. I need some input.
Here's the scene. I went for a ride with the club that I've been riding with more lately. It turned out to be 45 miles and just shy of 2,500 feet of climbing. I didn't even expect to ride with them. I was just riding along, minding my own business, and there they were. And they saw me. What could I do?!
Anyway, after the descent, we regrouped. Once we had all the stragglers, we started out...really slowly. This bunched the group up pretty good. We started to merge left to get out of a right-turn only lane. The guy in the front slowed up for no reason and with no warning. Now, we were only doing maybe 5 mph., but still. No stop sign, no signal, no traffic. He just slowed up. The person behind him slowed up. The person in the #3 position was looking back to make sure they could merge over without taking out someone's wheel behind. When they looked forward, #1 and #2 were slowing up. So, #3 hit #2 , then #4 hit #3 and #2 pretty hard and went down.
From the facts as they have been presented, who was at fault?

Number 1, obviously. When you slow up, you announce "SLOWING". At least that's how my bike club does it.
Had some people break hips in situations like that. We're very adamant about communication.
