Hell no! I love sitting in schwetty bibs on the train. Actually, it should be nice and cool all day, might not even be sweaty. Might not even need a vest, we'll see.

OK, for those of you obsessed with knowing where you are at all times, here's the route (with a few tweaks from when we actually rode it in April)

C/A Pizza Port 70 - A bike ride in Anaheim, CA

I don't know how to get POI to actually pop up on my garmin, but since we go right by the schwack and pizza port, I reckon it won't be a problem.

Here's a stab at a route slip. TH - you want to insert lines for the Schwack? I'm not sure what/where that is. Disclaimer, ridewithgps creates a lot of extraneous directions and occasionally skips a key turn. Use at your own risk. Feel free to modify/improve/ignore. Hopefully the link works.

Jim - there's 0% chance we'll miss the schwack. And frankly, the food is delicious. I had the ahi burger last time.

RWGPS... if you have a garmim 500, you get the turn notifications from rwgps. If you have a garmin 800 or better, it uses the map, which is handy. We still got messed up in laguna last time, so knowledge is power.

I have a 500. It tells me to turn when I'm about 1/2 way thru the intersection. I did load the route into it. We can't get majorly lost. Go down the SART to the end. Keep the Pacific Ocean on the right til you get to Carlsbad Village Dr. Turn left. Everything else is just details.

I think those notifications are generated by the TCX track, and if you pay the RWGPS ransom they'll let you set those up to warn you 30 meters before the turn. On an 800, the turn notifications are generated from the onboard map, so you get a nice pop up arrow (large) telling you which way to go. It's awesome, when it works. I also have a field on the main page that tells me distance to next turn, which is really useful.

To answer your other question - the schwack is right after this turn:

Do you NOT know what the meaning of "ink" is?

Sorry you won't be joining us. There will be another!

I get the feeling people don't know what "inked" means around here.

Did some maintenance on my bike today instead of going for a ride. I hope I got the chain on right this time. Ha ha.

They won't be. They had to put one of the dogs down early this week just after getting home.

I'm not happy to be missing out on the schwak and the pizza and beer. But I can't despite being inked

I created a GoogleDoc with key addresses and a few map screenshots:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...it?usp=sharing

(I should mention that I haven't ridden south of Newport Beach much (if at all), so I don't know if these really are the key map areas to print or not ...)

Sorry guys, I'm going to have to pass on this one. I was in Bakersfield this past week for training, and just have too much catching up to do... I have a seat post (no set-back), 100mm stem, and pedals to mount (gotta love Fleabay!). But I will do my best to make the next one! Especially and river trail rides to the beach, etc.

Dropping like flies today, they are. Once I book a sitter, the ish is final. And I booked the sitter like 2 days after date was finalized. I'll drag my wife along this biz with no map, by myself, if I have to. There is a real lack of Rule 5 up in this subforum. For reals.

It was a great ride, beautiful weather and a good group of riders, I enjoyed seeing/meeting everyone. Thanks to all. Thanks to @PhotoJoe for instigating it. Glad to see @TrojanHorse didn't let his disappointment over the Shwack ruin the day!

Good riding with you guys for a few miles early on in the ride. If I didn't have to work Sunday night (right now) I would have ridden the whole way with you guys. Maybe next time.
I did run into Beanz on the way back over by Edna Park. I think his ears were still burning..

Yah, beautiful weather, amazing scenery, great people. I think my favorite part of the day was on the train. As we left the Orange station, we all got up to get the bikes unstrapped so we would be ready for a quick exit at the Anaheim station. As we all stood up, one of the four drunk ladies at the end of the car yelled out, "Look at all those bike shorts!!" - as four iPhones came out for pictures. I'm sure they all have headaches this morning, but I suspect that they're wondering why the have these pictures...and why they were on a train in the first place!
