Pizza Port 70 II Rev 1 - Mark Your Calendars (NEW DATE)

**This is the new and improved ride thread. The first date was cancelled due to rail work cancelling the trains on the original date.**

What: Pizza Port 70
When: Sunday, November 8.
Time: Roll at 8:15am

C/A Pizza Port 70 - A bike ride in Anaheim, CA

Beachgrad05's Strava from the last ride:
Pizza Port 70

We had a great time last time, so we must do this again. All are welcome. This is a no-drop fun ride starting at the Artic train station by Angels' Stadium and ending at Pizza Port in Carlsbad. After an early dinner, we'll saunter back to the Metrolink station in Oceanside for the 5:30pm train back to Anaheim. This train has a "Bike Car" which can accommodate quite a few bikes. Weekend fare is $10. Being that we get on at the first stop, we have a better chance of getting them all together on one car. Last time was no problem. Departure from Oceanside is 5:30. Arrival into Anaheim ARTIC is 6:45 PM.

We'll meet in Lot A at the Transit Center. Let's try to park or meet up at the very North end of the lot, closest to Katella. Last time parking was free. There is trail access right at Lot A and Katella.

Parking Lot A is conveniently located on Katella Avenue and can be accessed via Katella Avenue and Douglass Road. It sits directly northeast of ARTIC facility. Lot A is available for short term parking, typically for dropping off or picking up passenger’s and parking for no longer than a day. Parking will be free in all three lots for ARTIC transit and facility users from December 6, 2014 to December 31, 2015.
We'll be riding through Camp Pendleton. VALID LEGAL ID IS REQUIRED! Otherwise, you'll have to ride on I-5 through the area.

Lunch: The Shwak in Dana Point
Dinner: Pizza Port - Carlsbad

Sunrise: 6:17AM
Sunset: 4:53 PM

Sunset is at 4:53 on 11/8, so if this ride goes like the last ride, we'll roll into the train station at about that time. However, if you have lights, I would definitely bring them. If for nothing else, to be safe as the sun gets lower in the sky as we're heading from Pizza to the train.

Looking better. I would have to Amtrak up to Anaheim, since the Metrolink doesn't run that early on Weekends.

We should probably meet earlier this time. Stupid standard time! Clocks change on 11/1.

Sorry, we're out. Sundays don't work for us. On another note @jsigone my son is racing/surviving in Temecula as well. I think he's planning for the 6 hour.

I should plan for the 6hr at this point but I'm usually the fool that goes all in.

I got 2 months to get my endurance back

I was going to suggest that, but know most people aren't into the early mornings like I am. However, why are you saying to meet earlier? We made it to pizza then the train with plenty of time. Is this so we can get to the train station with a little more light?

I just realized that I can make a poll that you can choose multiple answers. I always thought this forums software limited you to just one choice. I think next ride I instigate I'll make a poll regarding best dates and see if that makes things easier. We have so much fun, I want EVERYONE to ride with us.

Sundays are not good for me, as well, and I'm not wild about the late start. Those two factors are making me negative on this, otherwise I might be more interested.

I guess it is. Right now, I only see interest from 2 people, possibly 3. I'm not married to the date if a change would allow more people to join.

Lights will likely be needed toward the end but the train is at something like 5:30 if I recall. Leaving too early means a longer wait to get on train at end of day.

That's great!!! It's been a really long time since we've ridden together.
