It was downright lumpy, I tell you. I was running low on time so I skipped the repeat of the first hill but that second hill was naaaaaaaasty. It had to be about 20%, but I couldn't see my garmin, it was dark and I wasn't moving fast enough to stop concentrating on pedaling anyway.
129'/mi is a proper ride. Short of what happens if I make a loop round the house but not bad son.
I haven't been round for a couple reasons.

1. Loss of job means I don't have to be on a computer thing.
2. Another accident which required a helicopter ride to Shock Trauma 9 days ago. Broke a piece clean out of the helmet. I recall hitting the dog then waking up in the hospital. There's 90 minutes I was like John Dean at Watergate hearings.... I have no recollection

Carry on

@IBOHUNT sounds like tough luck. How's the bike? Jobs.... well I'm sure you could get another one, or are you thinking of retiring?

It's always nice to know that you'll calculate the feet per mile for me.

Sorry about your job, I guess it's back to hunting your own dinner and brewing your own shine for a while, eh? Could be worse.

And what did you do THIS time? Another accident?

I'm guessing he's going to need another set of wheels...

I saw you jogging the other day, don't lie. Next thing you know it'll be swimming.

Here you go. We called it the Claritavilla Death Ride and rode it in July. (Yes, it was hot.). You could skip Kagel & Lopez, they were just in there to make the route more epic. Another great option is just doing this route from Santa Clarita to the top of Mt Wilson, then descend back down to Sylmar and head home through the Newhall Pass. I have all the water worked out on that route, it's 100 miles I believe.

Maybe. We were supposed to go sailing but the Santa Ana winds have put the kibosh on that. So I'm going down to the Velodrome in Carson on Sat to try out track cycling. I may be pretty tired from that and if so, Acton on Sun would be perfect. Otherwise I really should go out to Palmdale & put in some more time on the Lake Los Angeles TT course.

OK, just to point out reality, Heathpack is a sweet lady, who makes everyone feel like they're (insert your favorite pro rider's name here), even though she's a BEAST on the bike and there is NOBODY in our club that could hold her wheel if she wanted to leave them behind. She is very gracious, and rides with me on her recovery rides. However, she has to do all the talking because I'm trying to 1) breathe and 2) not pass out from trying to keep up with her "recovery" pace. With my serious lack of riding lately, Acton will make me aware I'm on the bike, for sure. For her...it's something to do when you're too tired to push hard. 56 miles and 3k of climbing.

Well I ran into a dog that bolted out of it's yard. Only doing ~17 mph @153W when it happened.

Yeah, need a new set of wheels. Frame and fork has cracks. Kit was cut off including a $200 jacket. Helmet busted. Shoes all scuffed up. Disc wheel and Williams 85 front wheel all scuffed up. Brand new ZIPP carbon cockpit... It's a mess.

Now that I got free time stop on out and we can do some climbing. I can chuck together a 12K' century leaving from the house.

So you were coasting, that's fortunate. Sorry to hear about all that but it sounds like you physically escaped any serious damage if you're already looking to do a 12k century.

Oh, and it sounds like Vesteroid will have to provide his own bike AND one for you. You might need these shoes though:

@IBOHUNT shoot boy, i just started drinking again.....long lay off. Just dropped under 250 today Yay!. The new cross fit gym is flat kicking my ass. Odd workouts, its warm up, do some silly movement type things, then basically 20 minutes of terror, then cool down. For that 20 minutes however, they are trying to kill me. did these stupid wall ball things yesterday....take a 16 lb ball, squat, then jump up, and throw the ball up as high against a wall as you can....rinse repeat for 75 times. By 50 I had my eyes shut praying to someone to make the pain stop, by 75....I could hardly breathe. I wish I had a pulse meter on me, bet I hit 190.

Doing 4-5 mile hikes on off days to get ready for the trails this year....now under 250 can get on the bike

Heal up you ole redneck you.

IBOHunt get better, and get your bike fixed.

I attempted my first metric century today and made over 1/2 of my goal. I wasn't out for speed, but just distance. At the 12.5 mile mark I stopped at a gas station for a medium cup of coffee and an apple fritter (I had only had a cliff bar and a banana before the ride), then at the 21 mile mark I stopped for a foo foo coffee, and at the 28 mile mark I stopped at the local bike shop I do business with... headed out from there, but wore myself out.

I think I am going to have something to eat, and a good porter to drink.

Nice to see you this morning! The wind was ridiculous but I did nab the QOM on the Acton return. Behold the power of a paceline and tailwind on a slight downhill segment.

Anyway, nice group, nice day. Gnarly wind.

I did GMR again today, dead calm in San Dimas at 0730 when we started, but we had a headwind by the time we turned onto GMR at Sierra Madre. The winded got pretty gusty in places and made for a much tougher ride than 3 weeks ago. The last short descent down GRR into the village was downright scary.

@IBOHUNT - I dedicate this flat ride to your memory: https://www.strava.com/activities/547603471

That's the most calories burned on a ride since I got a power meter, and the most elevation on a ride too, so that's a nice little plus.

Bought a new helmet today - Incycle had a spring sale and all their helmets were 25% off so I got a Giro Synthe Mips for me and one for the wife.

well I took today to rest after yesterday's ride, or maybe to be truthful I should say that after church I finally finished getting my tax data together and then filed my taxes.... yay I beat the deadline.

I usually have the taxes done in late February or early March, but this year I was procrastinating a bit.

The good news is I don't have to pay which means more money for cycling gear this year.

The rebuilt wheel (new spokes, new spoke nipples, lubed up hub) felt really nice under me on yesterday's ride.

Riding with 70s music can be good to keep cadence to, but can be bad if you want to slow it down a bit (I find myself keeping cadence with the beat... or trying to).

That is yet to be seen. My experience with insurance companies and replacement stuff that got wrecked is 50% of the replacement value OR(!) less.

I was riding the race bike (Cannondale Slice RS) fitted with the RENN disc on the rear and a Williams 85 on the front, new carbon ZIPP cockpit, 3 week old Powertap P1 pedals that took a beating.
Of course the EMS folks understandably cut off all my clothes includig the $280 jacket, $200 bibs etc.
I'm out a considerable amount of money... ~14K all told to replace everyting that got ruint or damaged.
