I've been thinking this would be fun, but I'm not sure I'm in shape for it. Depending on date and health, I may do a shack run.

I'm up for it. Not sure of best dates right now but definitely before Christmas.

I want to try the ski lifts sometime, I'm at my best climbing shape ever right now (not saying all that much while still at 208 lbs). I'd have to pace myself all the way up to leave something in the tank for the lifts. And no keeping up with anyone on that climb, it will be what it will be (if it is to be, that is).

Lifts ain't worth it, IMO. Past the village it's just punishment, and the descent is goddamn terrifying. I need to do the GMR portion again to pick up the ~70 Strava PRs I left on the hill, but I don't know if I would do the Lifts again. It still haunts me. The weather would have to be perfect.

No worries about having to chase tunavic-- that dude don't even ride no more (last ride logged 2 months ago today.) Maybe got burned out on all those Oceanside rides.

So make a date, y'all. I'm down.

I think it was his kale pizza in oceanside that burnt him out

Thanks for the shout out @jsigone.

November and December are tough for me but it looks like December 17th would work for me so I'll propose that date.

I'm iffy for that date, but honestly, I should be the last person that affects this decision. I'm not in any shape to be climbing that stupid mountain with all you billy-goats!

Are you still dealing with shingles? I know this can hang on a while.

Yup. The rash went away pretty quickly, but the nerve pain/burning is quite impressive, and not getting any better.

Youch. My baby bro, went thru that and it was about 3-6 mo to total recovery.

I'd be up for almost any weekend the weather cooperates.

Not sure if I want to do the lifts again this year, but a cinnamon roll sounds good.

Looking at the the local weather forecast, let me just say that I hate you all with a fiery passion right now.

They've given up on using inches for the likely snow totals at my parents' place, and have switched over to totals in feet. At least in the cities it's just a couple inches on top of 30 hours of freezing rain, but I've got to drive up there for Thanksgiving after work on Wednesday.

Unfortunately, fiery passion doesn't melt ice and snow.

Wouldn't wish that on anyone. Hope it starts improving soon.

12/17 works for me as well.

@kcobbq I hopped on my bike today to go retrieve my car (left it at a friends and ubered home, yay responsibility!)... 21 mile slog in 79 degree weather. You know, the heat saps you when you're not used to it anymore.

I'd feel better about using the ink if @jsigone confirmed the date is good for him. 😄

I know, it was 64F when we started our last training session in the bike shop basement. 15 degrees too warm for my thick winter blood.

This is most of my cycling life for the next 4 months, but I'd much rather be dragging myself up a climb than simulating them staring at a vintage 2000 Trek wall banner of Hincapie, Basso, and Armstrong.

Hope you guys have a fun ride. I love climbing, even if I'm in no way built for it.

What's the general consensus of a start time?

I think the last time I did this ride was March of 2014. Can that be right?

Probably 8 or so. @jsigone will be fashionably late and still beat us up that damn hill.

We started at 0730 back in July, but in December 0800 is plenty early. Trade off between being cold and getting to the lodge before the cinnamon rolls are gone.

...and me getting back in time for my 2:00 commitment. I'm sure I won't be doing the whole ride.

What did *I* say?

Or is this more of a preemptive strike. Ironically, I have to be home in time to drive up to Valencia for a Christmas Party. Maybe we should carpool.
