Who all makes a Steel 1x model?

I'm starting to notice that more and more builders are offering a steel 1x model in their line up, especially in the gravel and adventure bike sections. Meaning, a steel framed bike with a 1x drivetrain on it. Right now, I think that's mostly SRAM 1x stuff from what I've seen.

It's definitely my bike of choice and it is also what I would recommend to most Clydes that are looking into riding a drop bar, road type bike. I was hoping we could start compiling a list of known models from various manufacturers to have on hand as needed.

I know of these:

Kona Sutra LTD Bike 2017 > Bikes > Cyclocross & Gravel Bikes | Jenson USA

Niner RLT 9 Steel 2 Star Apex Bike > Bikes > Cyclocross & Gravel Bikes | Jenson USA

Kona Rove Steel Bike 2017 > Bikes > Cyclocross & Gravel Bikes | Jenson USA

2017 Weekender Drop Bar | Fairdale Bikes

I know Black Mountain Cycles will build one for the MonsterCross frames:

Monster Cross Bikes - Black Mountain Cycles

Are there any others out there that you've seen?

SRAM have this market cornered, because Shimano don't make a drop bar shifter that's compatible with a rear derailleur that goes above 32T for the maximum cog. Nor do they make "break only" left shifters to match right shifters, AFAIK.

Sure you can cobble together older 10-speed shifters with older 9-speed mountain derailleurs, or use Shiftmate type cable pull converters I guess. A lot of hassle though.

I can't think of any brands that cover this niche I'm afraid, other than just building your own.

Do you mean other brands that offer 1x groupsets or bike manufacturers that offer steel 1x bikes?

The latter.

Although, I guess you could cobble together a 1x bike based on Microshift parts! Not sure about Campy.

Here's another 1x Fairdale.

Campy is out - they don't really build a group for the "recreational- adventure-y " bike movement - nor do I think they will ever intend to. They mostly do hardware for the hardcore (and those that want to be)

But- They have a mid cage that goes to 32, - and in the past I have dismantled early Campy ergo brifters because I wanted to use DT shifters but had become accustomed to the ergo hood shape-- So I suppose a guy could do that with a new Campy LH shifter if that floated their boat
