signed up for a ride

So on 13 May my oldest son rode the 25 mile route of the Inland Empire Century in Tri-Cities, WA (Kennewick, Richland, Pasco). When we were finished he said "that was fun; could we do a ride like this again?".

So after talking to my dad who lives in Albany, OR (about five hours from where I live) I went looking for more rides and found one 2017 Strawberry Century . My son and I will again be doing the 25 mile route, but this one has about three times the elevation as our last ride at almost 700 feet elevation changes.

I am familiar with the area so elected the 25 mile instead of the 52 mile as I don't think my son would have fun after about the first 35 miles on that route.

Heh. Not all that far from Cottage Grove, where the homecoming parade scene of "Animal House" was filmed.

It is scenic, low traffic, and best of all there will be decent cell service so I can call if I or my son get into a fix. I think this will be a good opportunity to teach my son how to spin up a hill
