I am. I greatly enjoy the world cup. They're threatening to card people who flop this year, and even have video review to check up on it, so that's a massive improvement. You'd still think they have snipers around the top of the stadium though.

But yeah, I'm at work and streaming it behind me so I typically watch when the announcers get all wound up.

Did you check out the other guy's ride? He titled it "got the crown, finally" And lost it the SAME DAY! He's going to develop a complex.

He must have started the segment carrying more speed because you didn't pass him until half way down eucalyptus. I don't usually look at that comparison thing, but this is just too amusing.

I looked through his profile-- he went at that segment about half a dozen times over 2 weeks, getting slightly faster each time. I didn't even have a good run at it, save for just keeping on the gas for the last 20 seconds, when I felt like I was going to explode.

But yeah. He had that KOM for 4 hours. If I wasn't a monster, I might feel something akin to remorse.

Too many KOMs in strava for too many pathetic segments.

Although as far as I know I still have a KOM in Bora Bora, and it was on some overweight beach cruiser with bad cycling dynamics. Took a couple days of trying... had to get the tailwind right, no rain so I had traction in the turns and of course, no freaking honeymooners clogging up the sidewalk and slowing me down!

Anyway, there are only what, 58 people who have ridden that segment? It's not like trying to get one on SART or something.

I'm not, mostly because of the Salisbury incident and it being in Russia. I have to admit that I'm not a footy fan in general, though I do usually follow the cup until the quarters when England gets knocked out on penalties (if they make it that far)

Rugby, now... that I try and watch. Six Nations, anyone?

Of course you're not a footy fan - they kicked you out of England! You probably forgot who the song "God save the queen" is about too, didn't you?

At least you didn't say Cricket. Anybody up for a test match?

Thanks to my non-skeletal build, 429W average. I’ve got more on tap, for when he comes after it again.

Oi! I I used to have the bike path KoM here! Very important, one, that -- apparently I lost it last year, though, to someone20% faster. Scary, given the dogs, kids, and road crossing on that route.

In other news -- what other fun bikes should I be looking at in Lanky Git sizes? I'm almost at the end of my patience with Bianchi's shipping and update BS and their inability to pick a date and stick with it.

I was actually looking at the Di2 version of that and the Endurace pretty hard. Neither are in stock in the size I'd want right now, sadly, though the regular is and saves me money. The blue is pretty too.

...and I only got to hold onto it (this time) for about 24 hours. Lost it this afternoon to the usual suspect-- 15 years younger and 30 pounds lighter, who beat my by 2 seconds on a whopping 277W, compared to my 429W. He got two flat tires in a 16 mile ride, and the second one blew out his tire, so I hope it was worth it.

I mean, I'll give it another shot... but there's always a faster, younger, lighter guy.

Oddly, their sizing tool says I'm an XL, not a 2XL. Something to do with short stubby legs despite being just over 2m tall.

I actually reached out to my home LBS -- Sigma Sports, in Hampton Wick. They said even LONGER to get ahold of a 63. WTF.

So check this out - my wife's company is organizing a team to participate in this year's MS150 bay to bay bike ride... it's a convoluted route from Irvine to Mission Bay, basically, with an overnight at the Sheraton in Carlsbad (uncomfortably close to that outlet mall). The route is 50 or so miles to the hotel and then another 50 in a loop out to escondido and back but check out how many rest stops there are: (maybe not the final route)

https://ridewithgps.com/routes/27893364

EIGHT! One is FIVE MILES IN!!!

Unless I miss my guess, I'll get a nice relaxing ride to carlsbad and then I can go faux-hammer the last 50 myself while my wife investigates handbag "sales" across the way.

8 rest stops, oy.
@jsigone, maybe you can pace me around the elfin forest on that fixie of yours...

Hockey is great, playoff hockey is fantastic but the scale just isn't there to compare to the world cup.

Don't get me wrong, I only watch soccer during the Olympics and world cup but it is compelling theater then.

Is one of those stops at Stone Brewery? You will smell the hops as you ride by calling your name

I should have been a good little boy and stay next to the beach and ride up to Dana Point or something easy like that....but NOOOO i had to be macho and ride the stupid bike up Paloma Mt in the desert like heat. Felt like POOO most of the climb...ok ALL of the climb up 76 and South Grade. Cole grade was even worse, 13% grade and computer was pegged 110-113* with the heat coming off the death valley below and blocked from all horizontal winds. I didn't feel like riding my bike another hour just to claim it was a century. Average temp today was 94* peaking 113
