DOUBLE THE HOPS, ZERO THE CARBS

As the internet watches and/or listens to even the thoughts we don't actively verbalize, I expect to see Zwift Brewery (real or virtual) related items within the fortnight.

November bicycles RCG36 carbon wheels are in transit for my gravel bike. 30mm Pro One tubeless tires arrived from bike tires direct.com. Other needed bits (cassette, rotors) on their way from Jensonusa. Just have to get it all sorted once they arrive. Upgrading to 160mm brake rotor for the front too. Hopefully it all comes together.

No one can explain the existence of front 140mm rotors, to any degree of satisfaction. It's all about the 180mm.

Oh,,very nice! Which hubs? I am liking my cafe racers from them a lot, though I have gone poseur and am riding the aluminum Sora Defy with WH-R500 wheels so the road grit doesn’t get on the Bianchi.

Gawd. 68 miles on Zwift. In Cali. You are a sick mind, Horse. Sick I tell you.

The fork mount will allow me to move the caliper up for 160, so why not, since I’m buying rotors anyway. I’ll put the other 160 on my current wheel and move the current 140 to the new back.

Exppat - going with the DT 350s.

I have Pro 1 tires on my Gan and I like 'em, but they are reputedly frail relative to other options, so hopefully you'll restrict yourself to paved roads with those babies.

yeah, they seem to have mixed reviews about this. But yes, these are going to be my road wheels/tires. Still will keep All Arounds on the Stan’s wheels for dirt and mixed routes. Will have to see how the reviews and street prices come in on the Continental 5000 tubeless once they’ve been out for a while.

Ah, nice! I think you’ll be really happy. Did you get in on the deal they were having on those? I went back and forth between the RCG36 and the Cafe Racer a lot. The wheels are super-wide, and so much tyre volume. It’s vaguely insane that my roadbike wheels are much wider than my MTB...

i have a set of Pros to put on my Fulcrums as a rougher weather set up. Going to try tubeless on that again, maybe, but they won’t be every day wheels.

Choices!!!!

got out with a mate on the trails yesterday. A bit chilly, but the all XT and 2x11 on the MTB is good. Liking the new tyres for some cornering, but when you stare at the cacti in the Apex, you end up in the cacti in the apex. And when you nail the front brake to avoid it, you end up with a saddle up your jaxie. All those road motorbike habits always bugger me up off road!!

Yeah I got their Black Friday or Cyber Monday deal, it was $50 off on the DT 350 wheels. Better than a poke in the eye.

interesting you mention the front brake/motorbike habit problem. We had a local motorcycle cop speak at our last club meeting. He also rides a MTB and has swapped his front and rear brakes to right/left handles specifically for that reason.

I swap all my bikes as well. Plus I grew up riding right front -- it just makes more sense to me.

My problem is I'm a heavy front brake user in general.

Yeah.

Cholla for me. Occasionally prickly pear. But mostly cholla. The track runs thru' a forest of the stuff and it's evil.

OTOH, actually HAVING stuff keeps down the goatsheads??

Windows Snipping Tool FTW! (Or at home on my linux machines, "Screenshot"). Even better, if you use the Vivaldi browser, it has a screenshotter/snipper within the browser. (There are probably apps/extensions for Chrome/FFox that do the same thing)

@RubeRad this was at Sycamore, started at the lot on top of Cardiac Hill, drop in the canyon, snake around the singles by the ranch house, climb up to Martha's and Left up Cardiac. Repeat 3 times. 26miles and 4,065ft of climbing/downhill goodness.

Also in the Open category was Reggie Miller, former NBA star, coach, commentator. He's a TAAAALLLL dude at 6'7"

yah he's pretty quick, he took off the front group. Gaps happened on the first drop into the canyon, unlike road racing, the Sprint happens from the start. It took half a lap to get my HR to settle in under 90% haha but have to burn those matches or get stuck in even slower traffic.

Riding the foothills this weekend I discovered how much I actually like climbing on an MTB, sick as that sounds. The X-cal is quick uphil, and I am slow down so I guess that’s good??

MTB climbing is usually rewarded with dope views and/or a sweet roller coaster decent.

Downside of MTB climbs, they are much steeper than paved climbs but we have lower gearing for the most part.
