Another 29.1 ks this morning.
It was 2C when I left at 4:14 this morning It rose to a massive 2.6 by 5am and then dropped back to 1.6 by the time I got home.
My full length gloves and jersey can't come quick enough. Hopefully the gloves will be here next week but since no one in Australia does large size jerseys I have to wait for US postage to get that to me. Still the short sleeve jersey I ordered in January only took about 3 weeks so I'm hopeful I'll get the package soon.
88.2k total for May

During the winter here I'm willing to ride down to about -4C, colder than that and I'll stay in. I don't worry about a jersey, I wear thin thermal bottoms under cycling shorts and windproof pants over everything, and a thermal top under a sweatshirt and a windproof jacket over that. Hiking shoes to keep my feet warm. Not very stylish, but it works. Next year I'll try to find some kind of mitten for my hands, the running gloves I wear are not warm enough when it gets that cold. The rest of my body is fine.
Today was 70F (21C), first time this year I could wear shorts and a short sleeve jersey. But back to the 50s this weekend.
Goal: 250 miles
5/1: 16.8
5/5: 17.6
MTD: 34.4
YTD: 617.6

If it wasn't for the hills where I can pick up speed I probably wouldn't worry too much about long sleeves because it's only really cold when I get over about 30kph. My fingers are a bit different they spend about 25 of the 80 minutes. I was going to wear a pair of thin Nitrile gloves this morning which wouldn't offer any protection but are full length, but I left them in the garden shed. I was going to get the bib and pants kit figuring they would cover my legs, but my legs don't really get cold and I really couldn't be stuffed putting on such things at 4am. So it will be cheap sneakers, shorts, gardening gloves and short sleeves until the long sleeves arrive. It's about 3 weeks until winter arrives but providing it's not windy or wet I don't see the cold worrying me greatly, it never has before.
It's not pleasant here, only about 15 today but with the wind chill factor they reckon it's down to below 7. They reckon we'll be seeing 60kph winds with gusts peaking towards 100 for the entire weekend so I can't see myself out riding again until next week even if I had a blizzard proof jacket!

Thank you to the guy in the pickup that tried to warn me I was about to get run over. Busy street, cars go pretty fast. Wide enough that you can have two lanes in each direction. Truck stopped to let me cross at the crosswalk, then started to lean on his horn. Guy on his left where it would have been hard for me to see decided not to stop and went around. Luckily I know to be cautious crossing in these situations for just this reason, so I was in no danger. But could have been bad, nice awareness by the guy in the pickup.

After the last few days of wind we are suffering a heatwave at the moment, it was 5.6C out there this morning when I hit the road at 4:15am. For the most part I was able to ride under the fog and it wasn't a really wet fog when I did run into it so that was good. It must also be a rostered day off for a lot of workers today because there wasn't many people on the roads during my ride.
Another 29.1ks this morning taking this month's total to 117.3

Time to get the miles back up. Ohio finally left winter in the rear view mirror. Hope to put up a few decent numbers in the next few days...
