Wow, that truly has to suck the life out of you sometimes. It's 57 right now in Jacksonville and my wife was just complaining of her feeling cold. I'm growing tired of my late night cold rides and will be very happy when the 10 pm temps are above 60 instead of in the 40's.

Yesterday I called the wind "soul crushing". When I got off work the temp was about 13 degrees with a pretty hellish wind chill. I've been itching to get my new 7.3 FX out, and I got out of the parking lot yesterday and just turned around when the wind hit. Not even worth it.

But today, even at 4:30pm it's holding at 40. I'm going to jump on the mountain bike after work (just in case of ice/snow) and get some mileage in. I'm totally stoked to finally do so this month!

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

Well the 7 mile ride to the girlfriend's was...

..brutal.

There was a 20mph wind out of the northwest. Guess which way I was heading? You got it! So I was slow, but kept it in the big ring and made it.

I also was thankful that I took the mountain bike. There is still a LOT of snow on the ground, and ice in odd places, so the roadie tires would have been death. ANd I would have cried that the shiny got dirty .

Anyway the ride here was brutal. But here's hoping the way home won't be so bad

No kidding.

On the way home it was better. I did about my normal time getting back, even though it felt longer. I added a t-shirt and put some plastic grocery bags around my socks before putting my shoes on. So really, it wasn't so bad after all .

But it was still cold. Darn cold. I think it was in the low 20's when I left, but felt a little warmer because of all the layers and tailwind.

Lesson learned: must. have. more. layers.

14 miles down, though. The most I've had in awile.
