Any clydes work at your LBS?

Went to the LBS to pick up some handlebar tape and brake pads and one of the guys behind the counter was a clyde. I have only been in this store about 3 times and it was the first time I had seen him working. Made me like the store a little more. lol

It was at The Touring Cyclist over in Fairview Heights, IL. Pretty small place. Some bikes and some parts and accessories. Not a lot but some. But, the people seem really nice.

I'm a Clyde and an Employee of a Bike Shop. It's only part-time, but I LOVE it. I won't advertise for them here, though I should. The Shop is great and I am proud to work for them.

The people who work at my LBS are all twist-tie folks. Friendly people, for the most part.

I used to work at a bike shop on the weekends so I could get the staff discount - while most of the guys in the shop are skinny cyclist types a lot of the customers are clydes (rugby players, lawyer/banker/stockbroker city types, biggest courier I've ever seen, etc).

The shop I get most of my stuff done at has an owner that may not be a clyde anymore, but he used to be one, and he's still on his way down... (I almost typed in "weigh down")

The shop closest to me, which I also like a lot has a Clyde, but kind of a marginal Clyde, not an uber-clyde.

My LBS is a shop with skinny roadies, but they have gone out of their way to learn about Clyde Needs.

The employee at this store was probably 220 or 230 maybe? I am not good at guessing weights but it was definitely different than the 150 or so poound people I usually see in every other shop I have been in.

A local shop mechanic is a 230 lb super strong racer. He's blown away many a skinny guy! He's the one that first built a Velocity Deep V for me when I had nothing but wheel problems. After watching this guy race, I realized clydes and lite wheels are just plain silly! It aint the wheels!

I figured that was the shop. Dawn the manager will treat you right. Nice people and always willing to help you with a quick fix. I actually believe two clydes work there. The main mechanic is probably a clyde simply from being tall, and I have seen another there as well.

She (Dawn) must have been the one who helped me the first time I went in there. A young guy helped me the second time. All of them are very friendly and that always makes a place enjoyable to go in.

A couple of the local shops have clydes. Some are just part time emplyees that are part time riders. But one shop has a full timer who is full time roadie ANIMAL. He did a 400 miles round trip run the other week and did it in one day.

We've got an interesting mix of folks at our Shop.

Most ride more than one style of bike. We have dedicated Road folks, Dedicated MTB folks, a few that ride Recumbents, one or two that have and ride Tandems, and even one that has a High Wheeler. We cover and know just about everything there is that a person can ride.

Most understand the needs of a Clyde and do well in fit and then the mechanical considerations. I do think I help in that regard due to my size but also with my build and maintenace of my Clyde Bike. My bike showcases what I feel "I" need for a proper Clyde Bike and I show it to Customers when they ask to see it. My bike is a careful selection of parts that I know function well under the weight of a Clyde. Nothing HIGH End or HIGH Dollar. Just a well thought out "Bang for the Buck" selection of parts, Frame and wheelset. I am still not finished with it as there are some tweeks I want to make. A Computer and a new LARGE Incredibell are the next two items to go on the bike.

I used to work at various Erik's locations in Minneapolis. I and my buddy Brian would take on the Clyde projects.

No clydes at my LBS, from what I can tell. But their wheel guy used to wrench for a downhill team, so he knows all about building super strong bikes. They're also the local rando and touring shop, so they do a lot of single and tandem touring rigs, and setups for people doing rides like StP, RSVP, RAW, and the really hardcore people that drag their bikes across the pond for Paris-Brest-Paris and such.
