Training question

Scummer, My Brother and I have a big ride Sat. the farthest I have ever gone 85 miles!!! I have done 2 50's one last week one week before. I know I can make it!!!! Especially thinking about this forum to give me motivation. My question is my brother wants to do a 40 tomorrow (easy) now I did a 35 (hard) Tuesday and a easy 10 today. Should I do the easy 40 tomorrow then rest on Friday or rest Thurs and Friday for Sat (which is what I planned on doing)?

And what should I eat on Friday to give me stamina on Sat? Pasta? I have been drinking water heavily for 3 weeks now so as long as I stick to the 20 oz every 45 mins to hour I should be okay with that.

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

If you do the 40, go VERY easy!@

You need to be tapering before the big ride and just riding enough to keep loose.

Start carb and electrolyte loading the day before and start the ride hydrated....preload on fluids before the ride. Don't overdo it though. It's hard to make specific suggestions because I don't have a big baseline on your input/output or other physiological data on you.

Going easy the day before: make sure you're spinning in easy gears. Like Tom said, just keep the legs loose. Avoid hills. You should have no problem finishing the 85. But, you want to make sure you don't die while doing it

Good luck.
