50 miler today but the wind was bad

I rode the St. Louis Trailnet ride today and all in all it was a very good ride. I started around 8:00 am and decided I would try and ride at around a 14.5 mph pace. I was riding and feeling good as I blew past the turn off's for the short and medium routes and settled in for the long. At around mile 25 I checked my avg and was sitting at 14.8. Then we turned into the wind. For the next 23 miles or so the ride was either into the teeth of the wind or against a non helping crosswind. I picked my gear and just spun. Finished the ride fealing good at 14.1 mph 3 hours and 30 minutes on the bike and 4 hours total for the ride.
