30 miles

I went on a solo ride today while visiting family and ended up doing 30 + miles. Not as bad as I thought it would be. It was very hot though, so I was still a little dehydrated. I have had about 10 twenty ounce glasses of water.

Way to go flip !!! I too decided to get out and try a ride today. Wanted to do a 30 miler but my back tire blew big time after about 10 miles. Oh well, the intentions were good...tire wasn't.

My hat's off to you for a 30 miler in this heat.

Great job, Flip! Hey, drive over to Indiana next weekend and do the Sizzling Century with me and ChunkyD!

I will be in Columbia, Mo next week working on my father's house. This weekend I am in Jackson, TN at my in-laws house. 102 degrees today and 103 yesterday. Sunday is a 7 hour trip in the pickup hauling things to Hurricane Deck, MO and then to Columbia the following day.

I forgot to add that my wife bought me Pearl Izumi shorts and that made it really easy for the 30 miles. I also broke three spokes and a TREK dealer was very nice. Completely different than what I dealt with in Omaha. I am in Jackson, TN, currently and if you have problems go to Bicycle City in Jackson, TN. I don't know the address, but it is just off of 45 bypass.

Hey, I was in the Pilot Truckstop in Jackson a few years ago when the tornado hit!

Are you bringing your bike with you? If so, PM me and maybe we could hit one of the trails one evening. I usually just do about 10 miles or so during the week.

Congratualtions Flip. A hearty Well Done:beer:

How do you Hydrate yourself while you ride? I have always been a fan of camelbacks. If you don't have one, I highly recommend them

Spencejm - I am working about 14 hours a day on his house right now, and yes, I brought the bike. I don't think I will have time to ride it.

Sandwarrier - I hydrate a lot before a ride, and then a water bottle during the ride, and then hydrate again after the ride.

WooHoo!!

That was "the big one" for me too. I'll never forget the day I did my 1st 30 miler.
