Found a new riding partner
A neighbor and good friend of mine has jumped in with both feet. Two FCR3's one for him and one for his wife, a tag along for his son and a new used bike for his daughter. He and his family have been on a few rides and today he went out with me for a 26 mile ride. This was his first ride of any distance and the "jerk":) had absolutly no problem keeping up with me. Finished at 14.2 mph. I guess the fact that he is a runner and is in very good shape especially for a 45 year old played into it, but did he have to ride so strong? I could not keep that pace earlier this year.

Oh well, it was a good ride, but next time I am going to have make him hurt a little.

Having an exercise partner can be great.

Your story reminded me of something my father told me when I was younger. He and a neighbor decided to try running together. A little bit into the run, my father was dying due the the fast pace. He finally told our neighbor that he couldn't maintain the pace. The neighbor responded that he was also struggling, but was afraid to say anything. :) Moral of the story, when riding together, make sure the pace is appropriate for everyone.

I agree. I do my best riding with friends. I never would have completed my first metric century a month ago if Neil F. weren't at the back of the pack with me.

Me, it depends....sometimes I'm in the mood to just crank out the miles in solitude, others, I love riding with people.

It's ALWAY great though when you find a partner though!:D
