Custom Helmet Makers
Okay here's the thing. I have a gargantuan melon. It's not only big it's wierd shaped (skinny and long) so it's almost impossible for me to find a helmet. Thankfully I actually do have one (the Giro Atlas is my buddy) but I have been on the prowl for the longest time for a skate style/BMX helmet that would fit me without me having to take out the padding or otherwise mutilate the helmet to fit my head.
Does anybody know of a helmet manufacturer that might be interested in doing a small run of BMX style helmets for some people with huge heads? I don't know how much it will cost (might just be ludicrous) but I don't even know who to ask.

don't know of a custom maker,
however did you look at a Giro Flak helmet ?
i have a large odd shaped head, also have a hard time getting a good fit;
have been wearing a large Flak since last spring- as comfortable for me
as any other helmet i've worn.

hmm, worth taking a look at but unless it comes in XXL or XXXL it won't really fit me

How big is your head really. Like, what's the circumference. I believe you that it's big, but I can't imagine anyone that would need an XXXL helmet.

man last time I measured it was something like 26 inches, actually my motorcycle helmet is a XXXL; however, I know for a fact that their are bigger heads then mine because I wear an XL Kangol and they make a XXL. :-)

There's a couple of suggestions here that may be useful.

Can't remember my circumference, but my hat size is 8 or 8 1/8, and Bell used to make a melonhead helmet that was too big for me. Can't remember the name--I'm thinking Magnum, but that may be my old car-racing helmet from the '70s. Don't know if it's still on the list, but check www.bellhelmets.com
Edit: Just checked it, still in the catalog: https://www.bellhelmets.com/index.cfm...ategory_id=236

You're looking at this as an issue of custom-manufacturing, but I think they'd have to do testing as well as manufacturing to do something like this on a custom basis. Good luck on the stock helmets.

Yeah that's the thing, I have done research on this over the past couple of years. This is something of a quest for me. The Bell Helmet was actually called the Kinghead and it was actually too big for me; however, what I am actually looking for is a BMX style helmet to fit my head. It springs from having the urge to become the worlds fattest/best BMX rider EVER!
I own the atlas, it's what I use for road biking. I'm looking for a BMX specific helmet or somebody who can make me one.
