Work Sucks ....

So 8 weeks ago I found out that my company was going to have layoffs, now this is pretty normal for the company that I work at, I've been there 18 years and survived every year. this year it seems that the layoff was going to be quite deep (around 55%), so this time instead of sitting around waiting to see if I made it or not I decided to start looking for a job, well long story short, I was laid off last wednesday (10/31), I started a new job yesterday (11/05), but I am spending 2 weeks in Scottsdale Arizona. Since I was going to be down here for 2 weeks I brought the bike. If there is anyone in the scottsdale area that would like to ride int the mornings I would be interested in hooking up, I feel sort of lost for a good ride .

oh and you know, it 62 at 6:30 this morning, winter really doesn't seem to be a problem in Phoenix.

It has been years since I was in Phoenix so the traffic might be a bit different. We used to just take off and ride headed North or East out of the Phoenix area.

If you brought the mountain bike then check out South Mountain. Most of the shops should have a local trail map and there are some great single track rides all around the Phoenix area and all with in riding distance especially from where you are.

If my mind was not gone I might be able to remember the roads we used but I am having a case of CRS right now (Can't Remember S***)

I do a LOT of traveling on my job - something like 125 days so far this year spread over 24 weeks. I really miss riding when I'm out of town, and I'm thinking about saving my nickels to buy one of those new Surly Travellers-Checks - that's a Surly Crosscheck set up from the factory with S&S couplers. I'm betting that puppy will fit in a big Samsonite hard-shell suitcase!

I'd suggest posting in the appropriate regional forum. You'll be much more likely to score a ride partner there.

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

hi, I don't get the work sucks title. What I wouldn't give to be cycling around Phoenix Arizona. Think of it like a holiday. Hope you find somewhere great to cycle.

Work sucks do to the fact that for the past 8 weeks I haven't been able to keep my riding up since I was trying to find a job. that's what really but a crimp in the riding. riding in phoenix has been great, the weather in the morning is perfect and I have found some nice riding, but I would just rather be riding than worrying about where my job is going to be located and if I'm going to have to move the family. Things turned out good for the time being, but it was a bit of a wake up call . Enjoy the ride while you can, sometimes you can't control what happens in your life you just have to adapt.
