Not as bad as smoking cigarettes. I enjoy a cigar every once in a while and I have by far better lung capacity and stamina with my cigar habit than I ever had when I was smoking cigarettes on a daily basis.

What is your profession? The Fluvial Geomorphologist in me got really excited about that washed out bridge. Cool pics!

ah yes, you would have loved this. The bridge was crossing a small wadeable creek, then the floods came and washed this bridge down about 150 feet from where it crossed the creek...oh, I am an environmental scientist with an emphasis in Pacific Salmon.

hi everyone!

i haven't posted in this sub-forum in a long time....i am definitely an Athena, and working really hard to lose the weight...

so, here's one from march of last year, me in the Wheaties jersey:

and this one from a local ride in december:

i've lost 33 pounds since march of last year and have about 17 more to go until i reach my 1st goal. at that point, i'll re-evalute whether i need or want to lose any more

Yay! I love meeting new Environmental scientists! I just took Open Channel last semester. I love hydraulics, fascinating stuff. In fact, my dissertation involves looking at fluid turbulence and sediment transport.

Hi wolfie...nice to see you over here...giving foo a break?

About the bridge pix. There was a house just downstream that was undermined by the flood. I think it was pretty close to being a casualty cause the foundation had a huge crack.

So do either one of you, wp and btx, take any of Rosgen's courses in fluvial geomorph?

heh. Foo is strange lately...yea, a break is needed

i haven't taken rosgen's course's yet. many of my co-worker's have and one is going in march for the 2wk course. it's kinda hard to get money/approval here in the DOT. i want to take the course(s) and seeing how i'm a squad leader now, maybe i can get to take them in the next yr or so.

have you taken any of rosgen's courses?

Two women bookended by Neils. Neil F is on the right, and Neil B. is the tall fellow trying to keep his shoulders straight for the camera.

The classic "buddies" pose. Neil F. on the left, Neil B. on the right. Taken the day before we rode our first metric century. Note Brooke, the 1977 Volkswagon, in the background next to the firewood.

Environmental scientists? I may be in trouble here. I work in oil. However, I am in remote communications in the field. Keeping oil and water off the ground.

Anyway, This is the forum I belong. I was 263lbs in this picture but have dropped to 252 as of this morning.
