Starting Weight : 340 - 5/2007
Starting Bike: the '00? Specialized Hardrock
I added a rack, pedals, bike computer, slickish tires, and bar ends to it... recently got a new rack, paniers and big ole platform pedals with big rivets in them... this bike is my commuter/burley tower...
currently have that and a '86 Schwinn Worldsport that I have new rims, new pedals with power straps on, and a new bike computer...
I think that's it
current weight is 306.8 (I've had a 4 month hiatus from the bike, lazy not injured)

First round - Weight 265, bike '96 Trek 930 MTB - only mod was swapping knobbies for smooth tires for commuting
Second round - Weight 270 (down to 225, then back up), bike(s) - '74 Schwinn Speedster - mods = rebuilt wheels (original spoke were shot); '76 Raleigh Super Course - mods = new seat (super-poofy doesn't work for me) swapped out downtube shifters for barend.

My Story
Well the beginning weight was around 300, and the bike that contributed most to that was this guy
Almost a year ago I began running then picked up this jewel and began riding
my current weight is just under 230 and have picked up this guy and am having a blast off road now as well
I am currently training for a couple of sprint triathlons later this spring and have my sights on the low 200's but still want to remain a loud n proud Clyde.

Well, starting weight was 180 when i got the bike(years back), slacked off and was at 245 or so last Fall. I doubt it matters what brand, material used or anything except that the bike fits you and more so you just get out and ride.

And it now with a few modifications to make it a more road worthy machine like a rigid fork, road tires, and etc.
I'm weighing in at 230 due to rain and it not being bicycle friendly in my new area.

really only two modifications....a set of Mike Garcia wheels 28 spokes in the front and 32 in the rear and in my opinion the best upgrade: a specialized Alias Saddle! Made all the difference in the world for me.
I got my weight down to 203, then had a bad crash. My riding slowed and my weight climbed back to the 240 range. Riding has resumed and I am now down to 219 and hope to be below 200 before summer. (although secretly I wish it would happen over night
)

Starting weight 230, bike was a ten year old Giant mtb. Currently weigh 219.
Late last fall I upgraded to my Specialized full suspension bike, upraded with a gps mount, bar ends, and a seat bag. I'm going to add clipless pedals this spring.
I'd love to have a roadie, but way over half of my miles are on dirt.
