Brazos Bend 20m ride
I found a State Park near my new location in Richmond, TX. It has 21 miles of hiking/riding trails that are all pretty level and ridable with road slicks(what I had mounted). I was there for a little less than 2 hours and managed to most of the trails, and a few twice. My GPS says I rode 20 miles, which makes sense because a few of the smaller trails were marked "no bicycle".

Overall the park is nice, and I was surprised to wake up today and not even be sore or anything. I averaged 10mph with quick stops to snap pictures and read some signs about the wildlife and plants. I have been making it a point to ride at least 4 miles a day, but still continue to yo-yo between 230-235lbs.
I'm vegetarian, don't eat fast food, have a protein shake a day, do my vitamins and all that good stuff. For breakfast I eat Oatmeal or eggs and toast. Lunch is usually PB sandwich and baked chips(smallest bag) and milk or real juice. Dinner is usually a bean oriented(bean burger, burrito) or salad. I guess I need to read up on it more but theres too many choices of vegetarian cook books, not dieting books.

That's a nice state park, haven't been there in YEARS. I grew up not far from there before I moved to Kansas. Not sure of any good riding trails around there, but I will tell you to get some lights and be prepared to ride in the dark if you want to ride year round, July, August, and most of june and september are not all that safe for riding in the daylight.

Are you talking about the heat? Or kids out of school driving like morons?
I have some lights and stick to my area when riding at night. Memorial park is nice during the week, but crowded on weekends. I'm moving in two years for school and hope to be more up state where it is hilly and a little cooler, with more trails.

Brazos Bend is about 28 mi. southwest of Houston in Fort Bend County. It has campsites, showers, fishing, birding, the George Observatory, and lots of Halagators.
It would make I nice weekend bike camping trip with some fishing. here is a link: https://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/spdest/f...azos_bend/#fac

Farther away than I thought but I'll keep it in mind. Thanks.
It might be fun to see a gator in the wild though. That would be a first for me.

I knew it was farther then you were thinking. Thus suggested weekend bicycle tour/camping trip. You can even reserve a screened in shelter (I think) so wouldn't have to haul a tent. Oh, and it's the gators you don't see.......

I've been there once, grew up down in Clute, but I don't think the park was even there when I was a kid. I'll have to go back sometime, too.

It is a cool place to see alligators and also water birds. Although I think the trails where you could see them best were walking trails, and not bike trails. But that's one of the main attractions to the park.

Check it out, only one trail is mark "Bicycles not allowed".
I am off this weekend, and am heading up to Waco/Belton. I plan on riding at Cameron Park, and whatever trails are near Belton. This time I am mounting my tires with tread, possibly the suspension fork too.

If you end up near B/CS, pm me. I have an old specialized mtb that I can resurrect for an off road ride. I just don't know where to go around here.
