Any Clydes for the 3 State 3 Mountain Ride?

Hey All,

Anybody signed up for the 3 S 2 M ride? I have heard this is a great ride. Only has 3 mountains! I signed up yesterday. Trying for another century. We will see.....

Steve

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

Here is a link to the site. https://www.chattbike.com/events/3_state/3st100.htm It says that there is between 6000 and 8000 feet of climbing. Mostly, I think this is the three mountains!

Yeah, I thought I was gonna die at the top of Lookout, last week

Here's the view from the top. That's the Tennessee River winding off into the distance.

Was that your first ride of the season? The way you and Jerry have been burning up trainer miles in your living room I thought you were still in shape.

A steep upgrade is very different when comparing it to a trainer ride.

Not this year Steve.

Hey, I thought you said you weren't a climber

I just did a 100k ride on Friday with about 3k ft of climbing. It wasn't the long steady climb that I planned that did me in (1 mile @ 9% avg) it was the shorter spikes that I didn't know about (first time I rode the route). I was on one short climb that registered at a max of 18% while the wind (seemed about 20 mph) was blowing me backwards. That was demoralizing

But still, I'm not sure my legs are ready for that much climbing. I may be doing the Tour de Cure that climbs up Monteagle at the end of May. I'll see if I can make it up that. Then maybe I'll try the 3s3m next year

You will LOVE coming back down Monteagle. Up, you're gonna hate, but the feeling at the top is incredible.
