Lemond Zurich Bike Rental

I'm in Birmingham, AL this week and decided to rent a road bike to commute to my corporate office. I ended up getting a LeMond Zurich Road Bike 2x10. Boy is this bike lightweight!!! I'm used to riding my Giant Cypress with 700c slick tires and upright position. Boy this LeMond has me really spoiled. It is pretty responsive and boy it flies down hills and stays straight with no wobble. I guess I gotta get me a road bike now! The only thing that I don't like is that I can feel every bump in the road.

I did my first commute today that you can read about here:

Flies downhill? We want fly uphill reports!:D.......The are nice bikes. I like the way the seatstays are connected in a large flat section right at the rear brake caliper. If I had the money!:p

Oh i forgot, This thing flies uphill as well, just not when I'm riding it!

It also shifts really sweet!!!

I picked up an '06 LeMond Buenos Aires in the beggining of April for fair weather riding in addition to my Gary Fisher Nirvanna heady duty daily commuter. I just can't believe how much faster I am on the road bike. It it more than just the 25 Lbs in weight saving of the bikes. If I add 25 Lbs of lunch, drinks, clothing I don't loose much in the way of average speed. All the attention to effieciency on a road bike from the more aerodynamic riding position to the smoother running drive train, it all adds up to loads of fun. This past weekend I went for my longest ride ever 82 miles + an other 7 mile family fun ride later in the day (on the hybrid). I could NEVER have achived 17.9 MPH average speed for the 1st half (pretty flat) and 17.2 MPH over-all once I hit the part with more hills. With my hybrid I have to ride hard to come close to averaging 16 MPH. My hybrid is still the goto bike for all weather riding, but for a fun fast ride, there is nothing like a roadbike:love:.

Happy riding,
André
