my first ride in 25 years

Went on my first ride in 25 years IT FELT GOOD only road for about 2 miles but I didnt crash like I thought I would my new bike did great its A schwinn crisscross thanks TOM for giving me the lead on it. My back side is a little tender but not to bad maybe a new wider seat will fix that. But all in all it was fun.

Don't worry about being sore--if this is the first time you've ridden in 25 years, it's to be expected!

By the way, Welcome to BikeForums!

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

Congrats! I was glad to help out.

Now, to address the behind issue. Let's get you some starter padded cycling shorts. You can wear them underneath basketball or regular Gym shorts if you'd llike.

My first ride after 30 years was 3.5 miles Feb '08. It felt like 100 miles. Anyway, you will quickly ramp up the miles in no time!

I recently picked up a Criss Cross myself. Good choice.

It takes a few/several rides to make a decision on a seat. I ended up with a narrower seat. You never really know what is going to fit the best. I would give any seat a little time before trying something else.

Good Ride . I wore 2 pair of bike shorts for while. Now I can ride 100 miles on a racing seat with just one pair.

Speaking as a beginner too, I thought I had enough padding of my own but I found padded shorts made a huge difference.

Well done for not letting the naysayers put you off!

I'd hold off on the new saddle for a while unless the one you have is truly awful. It'll be a few rides before your sit bones will adjust. I know I was sore the first few rides of this season. Congrats on riding again.
