OK... been riding hard well hard for me. riding every around town i avg 18mph. and on my last club ride with tab and kid thats an exrtra 60 lbs. 13 mph over 20 miles
ride to gym workout rid home 5 days a week 6 mile rt. ride to dojo study ride home 2 nights a week then car on thurdays fight night (tonight) in case i get hurt.

we while doing some heavy duty sparing tongiht i took a knee to the ribs and i think i might have a small fracture and i think i also broke a finger (left middle finger) i cant make a fist bad for fighting great for signaling cars....:roflmao2:
pain isnt that bad, the finger is worse cause i keep typing with it. but it hurts to laugh. and just a bit like 2 on 1 -10 scale painful for heavy deep breathing. laying down moving spike to 4 then down to 1. no meds yet might take some vitimin M. (motrin)

I am sooo close.. like 6 days away from 199.

lifting weights is out fingers i cant lift
sparring out for at least 1 week maybe 2.

Either that or you traumatized an intracostal muscle. That actually hurts WORSE that a cracked rib.

Treatment is the same.....time. They don't tape fractured ribs anymore. As to riding, you'd need to talk to a doctor about that. It depends on how bad the crack is.

Wow, you really packed it in there. Hmm I don't mean by getting hurt, but just being busy.
So the question remains...what does the other guy look like?

Tough break though. (In a non-pun kind of way).

I have a question for you though. I am considering riding to the dojo which would be 2 or 3 times a week. Classes run for an intense 2 hours and it's a hilly ~6km ride each way. My concern is that I may be completely stuffed by the end of class (not so good for learning and concentration) and especially by the time I get home.

How did you find it? Would you recommend it?

Just wait, the rib (if you cracked it) will get a lot worse before it gets better... at least that is my experience having broken one in the past.

The finger is simple. Go to the drug store and get a splint to immobilize it.

With both of these injuries, to the best of my knowledge, there is really nothing a doctor can do that you can't. At least, I have had both of these injuries before and i didn't go to the doctor :innocent: .

yeah not a lot for the doc.. this moring my ribs atill ahce but not as much as before . finger definatly broken and imobilizing today. senceless to pay 300 for xray for doc to tell me if is not broke wait for the pain to decreas and if it s broke wait for the pain to decrease.

it depends on your dojo. the 2 nights i ride to class. its 8km one way with a massive hill in between. my classes are only 1 hour and not that intence no cardio in my dojo usually. we do forms and technique. lots and lots of forms. So the equivilent of hard walking for an hour. fight night is different.
