Light saddle for a Clyde WW - Suggestions?

Hi
First let me come clean - I am a Clyde weight weenie - no doubt about it. Whilst many in the WW circles often question why someone over 220lbs is interested in losing grams of a bike the answer is I love the challenge of putting together and riding a lovely piece of equipment with everything considered - colour functionality and weight. I also like the extra challenge that being above the recommended rider weight limit for many items brings - you have to be even smarter than the 60kg rider who can buy and ride anything they want.

Thats the background - my particular challenge is finding the lightest comforable saddle. I realise that saddles are a very personal thing but lets face it there are some road saddle shapes that a big guy with a big 'seat' is just not going to be comfortable with - no uncovered carbon shells for me! Before buying and trying all the usual options (Selle Italia Flite, SLR, Fizik Arione etc) I was interested in hearing if there was any saddles that any clydes had found really good or really bad - it may guide my thinking as to where to start. I'm presently using a Selle SMP Glider which is quite comfortable but about 100g heavier than my target.

I don't know about the regular model of Selle Italia FLite, but I tried a gel Flite. Payed $109 a few years back. I put about 1,000 miles on it. Still ROCK hard, like riding on cement. Ended up giving it away. Never a FLite again, gel or not!:D

Thanks Mr Beanz - must admit it was on my top 5 to look at - leaning towards a Selle Italia SLR Flow model at present as first trial - seems to be fairly positively reviewed generally though am interested in any clyde experiences.

Yeah, that's the bad thing, cause on ride hated the saddle, another may love it!:D

I currently use the Fizik Arione. Like it. I like 'em long :D

I tried the Specialized Toupe (not sure of the version), but the light weight of it was very...um...wow! Unfortunately, I didn't find it comfortable, so I returned it.

I had a Selle Italia Turbomatic from 15 years ago I loved. But they don't make those anymore :P

i really worry about weight but the saddle i learned my lesson. but i dont know how many grams it is but i have a terry fly ti and its considerably lighter and more comfortable than my factory fuji seat. its not too much heavier than a specialized seat i used to have. but that thing hurt my ass so much i gave up on the super light saddles.

note: found the weight of the terry fly ti 255g/9oz. well thats 5 more grams off :thumb:
