I don't know about Reading, but down the road from you a ways is an organized ride in August, the Lancaster Covered Bridges Metric Century... Someone who rides that may know about things in your neck of the woods.

Check it out in the Northeast regional forum. And try to make the Covered Bridge ride... A group from Bikeforums meets up there every year, there is a thread in the Northeast regional forum with info.

The Berks county bicycle club is located in Temple about five miles up the road from you.

+1 on the Covered Bridge Metric Century..... I rode it last year (my 1st metric ) and had a blast! Was a great ride, well supported and great scenery! (I'm originally from Schuylkill County.)

I'm sure your local LBS or the Lancaster Bike Club can steer you in the right direction.

I'm hardly unbiased, since I'm a BCP member, but I like BCP. However, they usually don't organize rides as far out of the city as we are - Pottstown/Spring City/Limerick/Royersford/etc.

Brandywine Bicycle Club, in West Chester, organizes lots of rides in the western suburbs. And a bike 'club' is forming in Phoenixville - the Firebird Bicycle Club has informal Saturday and Sunday morning rides. In fact, they had a small 25 mile ride in Pottstown this morning from Memorial Park. I missed it, unfortunately.

You can meet one of them, at least. PM me and I'll try to set something up.
