Rode 20 miles for second time

I rode 20 miles for the second time now....I had an avg speed of 16 which isn't too bad for a newbie (I think)....I've had my bike for 2 1/2 months now and I am glad to finally start putting some miles on it...The bad news was during a short break at mile #10 I had my bike leaning against a 4 x 4 pole in a covered restarea of the trail....Bad move on my part...My bike fell and has scuff makes along the top tube now...I used some Turtle Wax rubbing compound on the spots....Most of it came off, but I have a same scratch in the paint and when you get close you can still see some faint scuff marks....Any ideas on how to fix it or is this going to be battle wounds and a lesson learned....

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

It's a character mark. These things happen.

Put some Red Electrical on each scratch.
Some day you will have a red bike.

Great Job! I also rode my second 20 miler today, however my avg. speed was no where near yours. I didn't take any breaks but my avg speed was about 12.5. I'm hoping to increase that as well as increase my distance to a 50 miler by years end.

I rode on a trail (Van Fleet Trail, Central Florida)....not much traffic after about 2 miles in...no more walkers anyway......I have a 100k ride on Nov 8 called Tour de Bartow....I need to get from 20 miles to 63 miles between then and now...The bad thing about the trail is no hills....We have some good hills (for Florida) here where I live....so I will soon need to hit the hilly roadway and dodge some cars....mncyclst, keep up the good work and maybe we will both be hitting that 50 mile mark soon and by the way, where are you riding?

I started riding the trails around my town in MN but there's only a couple miles of paved trails so with my road bike I've been hitting the country roads. Road riding is new to me so I'm a little nervous with the cars but I'm doing ok. Saturday mornings are great. I left the house at 6:30 this morning and there was little to no traffic and I had my 21 miles in by 8:30. Most of the rest of the family was still in bed. That feels good.

Thanks and Ill see ya at the 50 mile marker.
